United adding new colors to branding palette

Original article: https://usat.ly/2MtWlaK

Summary: new colors will "pop" up in the new employee uniforms, as well as linen used for meals. This also explains why purple was used for Premium Plus seat upholstery.

Here are the new colors and their name:

Is the yellow being retired? Or are these just more colors they have to work with?

At the risk of starting another Color / Sound controversy, Pacific Blue looks Green to me, possibly Emerald Green @:-)

I got a little excited reading the thread title as I thought United will finally retire the approximately 30 year-old ex-Continental livery.....

Forget the fancy colors, can we at least have the tulip back in some shape or form?

So..... we can update every aspect of the company from employee uniforms to cabin seats/products to linens, but we can't change their (now infamous) 1990's Continental paint scheme and logo? What are they smoking in the Willis Tower?

No gold in that palette... are the stupid 90s cheatlines going away?

I actually prefer the current UA colors to AA, DL, and WN. The dark blue is a great color. Not that anyone should really care what's painted on the side of a plane or what color seat or linen they have, but why add all these pastels into the mix? Aren't these WhizzAir's colors?

I thought the same thing when I saw it: I only see Green. But I would not have dared comment about it until someone did. Thank you!

I believe we are progressively moving in the direction of a new color scheme on the airplanes. I think the company wants to avoid rolling it out prematurely and attaching a negative connotation to the brand, like they did with the return of the “Friendly Skies” campaign. No need to fix now something that’s arguably less broken than other aspects of the company.

It’s almost a page out of the PMUA playbook, insofar as lots of refreshed branding elements were progressively rolled out before the “Rising Blue” livery went live.

That is some green shade of blue! That color to me still says 90's Japanese car. I also hope they retire that Continental globe - one of the most uninspired and uninspiring logos out there.

There is a Pantone color called Pacific blue, which is quite a bit darker but does have a lot of green in it. I wonder if that swatch is a lightened up version of the Pantone color, and the lightening up increases the 'green' feel? https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/19-4916-TPX

Adorable alliterations all. (Or is it actually annoying alliterations?)
