This isn’t a PR bungle. UA knows the deal. Suckers keep buying, y’all keep flying. Why risk putting a dent into that at this point?
Silver Fox likes this.

Yes. The only saving grace WN used to provide was comfortable seats (I'm 6'3' and wide-shouldered). I would fly WN rarely, but maybe 2-4 years ago flew DEN-LAS in one of their new microseats. Knees jammed into the seat back in front and serious lateral encroachment. AWFUL. That was it for me...now I will not consider them.

Spot on, sort of...... We carried a record number of PAXs in June, despite all the PR. While we can do much to improve, many of us are working hard to deliver good customer service, I'd like to think that some of this is reflected in June's numbers...

Just curious - did Glenn ever fly in the back?

Because that's not the point? The point is that the industry overall is making Y cabins ever denser and more uncomfortable. "

That may not have been the point of the article, but the lesson taught is to avoid economy if you find it uncomfortable. As someone else pointed out, economy airfares are generally cheaper than ever, and you get the quality that goes with that. If you want more comfort, there are options, and they cost more - but sometimes are surprisingly affordable. And I think the airlines are always trying to make money on both of those two separate markets - those who will buy the cheapest seat, and those who will pay up to a certain amount more for more comfort. And what you see is the result.

Why are you surprise? They let Smisek stay until he committed an actual crime. The CO BOD is far from an active board.

I'm not surprised at all, but I am amazed this airline is still in business.
