Requesting a *A upgrade Award on SQ?

I finally pulled the trigger on SIN-DPS via the UA website (both SIN-DPS and DPS-SIN are carrying SQ flight numbers), but since the tickets are issued in full Y, I was going to throw some miles and see about upgrading into C.

The question is, do I just need to call MP to process the upgrade or do I need to follow more steps? Also, does a Y>C upgrade pull from I or O class?

PS: the UA website even allowed me to select seats for both segments.

You should be able to process them online. MP may actually claim they can’t do it on the phone. Y->C will pull from I.

It's requested through this link: https://www.united.com/web/en-us/app...de.aspx?POS=US

Remember that *A upgrades using miles are only for instantly-confirmed upgrades. Upgrades that are not available cannot be waitlisted.

PS - personally I find 10,000 miles a waste on a short route like SIN-DPS. SQ has great service but 10,000 gets you a free ticket in the US under 700 miles. Obviously we all choose how to spend our miles differently.

But SIN-DPS has the new 787-10 regional "business" seats. That's an experience!

I would definitely pay $150 US (value of 10k UA) for that upgrade.

A C ticket would be 2x the Y price.
