When does elite status change, if lower. for the coming year?
Midnight (local time) 31 Jan 20xx
(website/mobile app resets Midnight Central USA / Chicago / Houston time)
If status, due to achieving a higher status, is high, the change should update quickly -- once the miles/PQMs post or reason for new higher status is processed.
Note to earn a status level (if not due to MMer companion status or a matched / challenge status), you need to meet all the required elements for the status level in a calendar year unless you are exempt / waived from a requirement

- PQDs
- 4 UA operated flight segments
Earn Silver / Gold / Plat / 1K this year, how long will it last?
If you earn a status level (not a challenge), it is good for the remainder of the year you earned it plus the full next calendar year plus January of the next year. So a minimum of 13 months up to 24 months. Example if you earn a new status in Aug of YYYY you will have at least the status until January YYYY+2
The app / card / website shows my status expiration as Jan XXXX but I thought it was Jan XXXX+1?
This is standard, the shown expirations date is always for the next January, it will be updated at the end of that January to the next year's January (if appropriate)

1. As expected, my MP Premier Silver status expired 2/1/2018
2. My Marriott Platinum also expired 2/1/2018, however, they didnt actually make it effective until around 2/26/2018
3. Once my Marriott Platinum expired, i was downgraded to Gold, but, was brought back to Platinum status on or around 3/2/2018
4. Once my Marriott Platinum was re-instated, I had to re-link the accounts, also around 3/2/2018.
5. My United Silver was re-instated around 3/4/2018
6. I was able to then apply my FLEX PEQM miles from my PREZ+ to 2018 calendar year (I had 14,000 set to expire 3/31/2018)
I will likely qualify for MP Silver again the old fashioned way this year.

United status expiration date question
I read in a lot of threads that says once I earn the status, it's valid for "the remainder of the year when it's acquired plus the entire following year" .
I just earned the silver status on June 20, 2018. Based on what I'm understanding, it should expire on 1/31/2020. But it seems that's not the case, when I checked "Milage Plus" tab in the United app, it shows Valid thru "01/2019". Did I miss anything or UA might have changed their policy?

Matched to Premier Silver but says expires January 19
Matched from AA Gold to Premier Silver and completed the 8 PQS requirement. Account was upgraded out of trial status but digital card says expires 01/2019. I started the Status Challenge in September and e-mail from when challenge started said status would be valid until January 2020. Is it normal to not reflect that date until after the new year?

You will have status through January 2020. New status will not refresh until January.
By the way, 01/19 in this context refers to January 2019.
