fly a trip (min $200), get 2500mi. i've been eligible for mileplay each time around; i believe i've only used an offer once. my prior minimum spend for mileplay "trips" was $125.

mine isn’t bad at all -
1 x $150 touching EWR for 4,400 by 8/12 ... too bad I can’t even find any excuses to book another trip
me guess they’ve gotten reasonably good at weeding out all your “expected travel” and the miles are close to driving pure incremental behavior
Ive gotten mile play promos nearly every time, and not once I could take advantage of it =(

Just to make sure you're aware, you know the $225 is base fare, not the total price, right? So if you booked a flight that cost you $229, your base fare is probably less than $200, which won't count for the promo.

That's $229 based on the fare guidelines in the T & C. I would have tried to hit the $225 exactly if I could have found an appropriate flight

One other thing that I just thought of...have you considered just purchasing addt'l RDMs when you book another flight? They're usually offered at 3cpm, I believe, and you just bought a flight that's costing you roughly 4.6cpm (based on a guess that the flight actually cost you $250 or so). Again, just a thought!
[EDIT]I didn't count the fact that you'll get RDMs for the flight, and based on the fact that you're UA Platinum, you should be getting an addt'l 2061 RDMs for your 229 base fare, I believe. So, you'll be getting 7461 miles for ~$250. That's ~3.35cpm. Not bad all in all.[/EDIT]

Wow, that one is pretty good actually! 2.7cpm, I'd hop on that one (maybe do a TCON in F or TPAC mileage run) ...
What kind of flying pattern do you have typically? For instance, I've never flown in a premium cabin, so I'm guessing the algorithm knows not to offer me premium cabin challenges.

Thx again for your help.
I did book CLE-IAH $885 base fare (needed $850) about $95 add-on taxes, airport fees etc. You were right there were no same day turnarounds less than your $1557 you found. So, staying a couple days in Houston catching up with friends. Don't need a car, don't need a hotel, so happy to kill a couple birds with one stone and get the miles.
This is the first offer where 1) I was eligible and 2) was a good deal for that many miles.
Appreciate you, again, for trying to help.
