I'm surprised McPaper lasted this long.
Good move by United. Next, they should get rid of the WSJ, all those other paper mags and rags, and all the plastic drink bottles.

I could use bigger drink cups, preferably glasses. I took two at a time because once you have a few ice cubes there's about 3 oz. of soda.

What are these “newspapers” of which you people speak?
I don’t think I’ve looked at a physical newspaper in 4-5 years. (And I’m over 40 nonetheless).

Really? United has/continues to spend millions...yes millions on improving the United clubs and millions more on Polaris, the best lounge experience in North America, yet people are complying about not getting a free 1-2 dollar newspaper anymore! Really? I have to say,
getting rid of the newspapers is a good idea. Better for environment, less trash, everything is available online including crossword puzzles etc. It is a good business decision. I like the USA Today myself, but always have a couple of bucks on me to buy one at one at one of several news stands around the airport. Sorry to sound like a stick in the mud, but I’ll take the millions in improvements over a dollar or 2 newspaper all day long.

halls120 - "Cheap, Cheap, Cheap. The new UA, thanks to Scott Kirby and Oscar Munoz. "
I think you forgot to phrase it as "The New Spirit of United"

I'm not thrilled about my carbon footprint from flying either - but that is a complete and separate issue.
Planes are getting more efficient and if airfare needs to go up to advance even more flying efficiencies I'm all for it.
Regardless, all those newspapers in a United Club (and hotels - which many stopped leaving at doors a long time ago) seemed like such a huge waste to me.

It always seemed too good to be true getting a free newspaper in the days of cutting back on PTVs on planes, inflight video streaming that doesn't work on Android properly, First class meal cutbacks..... I could go on forever!
