Connecting: The airport to or from which you have a short-haul flight to connect to a longer flight, i.e. EWR-ORD-NRT or NRT-ORD-EWR
Arrival: The airport you arrive at after your long-haul flight, i.e. EWR-ORD-NRT

Really? I find the EWR LH lounge to be quite good and markedly better than the SAS. Did they make improvements to the SAS lounge/service in recent years?

If resorting to the two, LH is notably better in food/beverage and (imo) service. But since both can get very crowded in the afternoon, SAS is the more spacious choice.

Very disappointing to see the cutbacks at this lounge. 1 waitress working the restaurant - took 90 minutes to receive oatmeal & crepe's, and never received the drinks ordered. 1 bartender on duty. Seemed like the last time I visited they had a wider selection of alcohol and wine, and the buffet was larger as well.
Still much better than the United Club.

My athletic facility has been open on Christmas day for the past 30 years since I have been going there. This year, they had to close. They just could not find staff to cover the day. I guess UA was lucky enough to find someone to cover Christmas for the Polaris lounge.

A lounge receptionist basically kicked me out this last weekend. I left the lounge to sit on a bench in the reception area while waiting for a family member, and the receptionist came over to me saying "these benches are for wheelchair pickup. This isn't a lobby. You can't sit here". There are 4 benches in the front. Apparently not even lounge guests can use them?

Neither really, I was done with my lounge visit, and she just told me not to sit around in the entrance area. They don't have any signs up which adds to the confusion.

At least now I know what they're "supposed" to be for; cheers!
