Access to Polaris lounges (source):

update 29 Sept 2017, effective 1 Oct, 2017

Departure: The airport you are leaving on an international J/F flight* from, i.e. EWR-ORD-NRT
Connecting: The airport to or from which you have a short-haul flight to connect to a longer flight, i.e. EWR-ORD-NRT or NRT-ORD-EWR
Arrival: The airport you arrive at after your long-haul flight, i.e. EWR-ORD-NRT

Hours- 4:30a - 10:45p

*Currently it appears that any departing international flight on an *A partner qualifies (except AC operated transborder flights ), but only United flights with the premium cabin class listed as 'Polaris Business' or 'Polaris First' will qualify for entrance after arriving off a United Polaris flight.
UA premium cabin flights not marketed as Polaris, such as Domestic First or International Business (Canada, Mexico, Caribbean ... ) are not eligible for Polaris lounge access.

What is a good time to get to the EWR Polaris lounge? My flight is scheduled for 8:05PM on a Tuesday (11/26) but I can get there early.

Can't speak from experience, but from the estimate in this thread, it looks like you would best arrive before 2 PM or after 6 PM.

Depends on exactly what you are after. 2PM arrival for an 8PM flight would be way too much time for me.

It is a nice business class lounge, but not anything that would draw me there for hours. You can get a decent dinner before your flight if you want to maximize your sleep time on board.
I haven't been all that impressed with the on-demand dining, and usually just grab some items from the buffet.

Could also make use of the very nice shower suites, if you want to freshen up before the flight.

If this is your first visit and you want to check everything out, I would think 5PM would allow plenty of time. Drinks, dining room, shower....

We are flying on Lufthansa EWR to FRA in business class. Code on email confirmation says Business (P). Are we able to use the Polaris lounge or which lounge would we have to go to.
Our flight home is on United Polaris AMS to EWR is there a Polaris lounge in Amsterdam? If not which lounge would we need to use?

thank you

You do have access to the Polaris lounge in Newark. Note that it's in a different terminal than the Lufthansa flights but there is a bus after security that can take you both ways.

AMS does not have a Polaris lounge. I don't know the lounge situation there but I expect you have access to something.

LH departs from Terminal B. As mentioned above, the Polaris lounge is in Terminal C which is accessible by bus. Allow plenty of time if you wish to do this. The food and cocktail options at EWR Polaris are better, but whether it's worth the terminal change is a factor of time and convenience. LH has it's own lounge in Terminal B with decent food and drink options; although it's small and quite busy 4-6pm. Search flyertalk for more LH EWR lounge info.

You'll have access to the less-than-inspiring Aspire contract lounge. You wont want to allocate excessive lounge time. Theres a Star Alliance lounge, but its only available to Schengen passengers.

Last time I flew LH, I used the Polaris, Lufthansa, and SAS Lounges. Polaris is best if you have time. Lufthansa is worst. SAS, which is in B, was better than LH, in my opinion. Of the 3, LH Is that last I'd use at EWR.

Would you say it's aspiring, though?

YMMV but I find the food and drink selection at the LH lounge to be consistently better than SAS.

In case you do have a connecting flight from EWR you are also allowed to use the Polaris lounge upon arrival / before your connecting flight.

There is one redeeming quality to the contract lounge - as you go down the escalator you run right into the Johnnie Walker store - if you hit it right there might be a special on the 1 L Blue

Not only does the lounge suck but it is a long walk to the UA gates. I recommend avoiding it altogether, that or spending more time landslide since there is a lot to do at Schiphol-there is even a casino, site here:

4.10pm today... wait for the all gender bathrooms.

Is it really that much to ask for some urinals which take up a fraction of the space of an "all gender" bathroom?

And as a side point, the slob in the bathroom didnt flush.. an un-flushed urinal is much less offensive in my view than an un-flushed toilet.

New entry requirement question by the front desk folks "Do you flush #1 AND #2 ?"
