Wait - is it "included in certain business class fares" or "available for purchase during the booking process"? Hardly the same thing! How many takers are they really expecting to get at those prices? This sounds pretty much like the service that is included at FRA/MUC with LH F tickets.
And it's LAX - I bet they'll have takers.

A seriously steep fee for ground services, but I can see some celebrities doing it rather than rubbing shoulders with the commoners in the UC. It's still a heck of a lot cheaper than flying private.

It can be booked by agencies via the various GDS'es, and corporate discounts apply, so it starts to not be quite so crazy...

I have never understood why USCBP and the TSA buy into this stuff.
Obviously there are VIP's who need to be screened separately for security reasons, but "you are rich so you get to buy your way out of standing in lines", with the money going to a private company (not the government), seems to me as if it just got enacted without anyone even thinking whether the government should be involved in this sort of thing.
Among other things, it makes it more likely that the government will impose onerous and invasive procedures for ordinary travelers if rich people are exempted.
Obviously there are VIP's who need to be screened separately for security reasons, but "you are rich so you get to buy your way out of standing in lines", with the money going to a private company (not the government), seems to me as if it just got enacted without anyone even thinking whether the government should be involved in this sort of thing.
Among other things, it makes it more likely that the government will impose onerous and invasive procedures for ordinary travelers if rich people are exempted.

While I wouldn't pay what looks like a minimum of $1450 for international if I read that correctly (I assume RT); I do like the private customs and passport control having just waited at SFO for almost an hour to get through passport control and customs (still waiting for Global Entry interview)! They had ONE customs and border agent at the head of the line, appalling!

I bet TSA loves this in LAX, because celebrities in airports are often disruptive due to crowds, pictures, etc., and that sort of distraction can be dangerous in a security situation.
