What junk..
Who the heck eats congee with lemon and those condiments? The guy working there asked if I wanted congee. I said, "nope, that's not congee. have you had congee before?" he said, "no". Well, "we don't eat congee with those condiments ." Where did they hire this chef? And 10:45am til 11:45am is break time. No dining service during this time. Back to Amex for me.

The only thing good for now about this lounge is "big, spacious, and new". Wait a month or so and everything gets beated.. Food at Amex is much much better... They should at least visit Silver Kris or a few Hkg lounges if they want to serve anything remotely Asian/Chinese.
Not sure what the other photos referencing the condiments proves... Maybe that you’re in America? Big deal...

I would hardly point to SKL or CX lounges as paragons of fine Asian dining. SKL has mediocre food. CX lounges at HKIA are gorgeous but the food is nothing special (though I do enjoy the dumplings at the noodle bar).

In the early days they had the Veuve and also Moet & Chandon brut rose. They quickly dumped the Moet for a California sparkling rose (Chandon) at about 1/3 the price. Yet the Veuve remains. Go figure.

FWIW Las Vegas buffets are in America too but they manage to provide more appropriate condiments.

Isn’t traditional condiments things like pickled or floating garlic and shrimp/seafood? That might be odiferous or difficult to maintain/health code. ( and $$)
I would prefer the congee be replaced with lentil and/or that oddly decadent tomato soup they stock from time to time in the UC. That Campbell’s stuff is brilliant. American condiments for that too please!
or are soups a standing item already?

Common condiments for congee can include pork floss, pickled cucumbers in soy sauce, chopped green onions, slices of a fried dough sort of thing, and peanuts.

And some thousand year egg and fermented bean curd! At least for most Chinese congee. Then there's Thai congee, Indonesian, Vietnamese....

If you are a congee expert, please tell us which country has the same condiments as served at the SFO PL. Even in China, condiments used in congree vary greatly from one region to another, but those in PL are not typically used in any region of China (or other Asian countries).

Free food will get taken. Even however bad the food was prior to this renovation, people were still grabbing food. Doesn't mean it's actually good. Honestly I don't think it's too much to ask from UA at SFO, which is a very Asian-centric place to begin with that also happens to be the gateway to the Pacific to serve some half decent Asian food. It doesn't need to be NRT/HKG/SIN/TPE/PVG-level, but maybe at least a little better than Panda Express?

Although I also don't recognise the congee ingredients from your other photo as matching any I have seen in Asia, I don't think it's so problematic. For example, in Taiwan I have had chickpeas served as 'British baked beans', which is weird, but it didn't taste bad.
