Why no row 14 on Polaris aircraft?

I understand the unlucky 13 row but why do none of the aircraft with Polaris hard product have row 14?

When UA skips a row (or rows) it's for seat numbering consistency across aircraft configurations.

Its similar to BR plane that there's no row 4 and several of condos have no floor 13 or 14.. Believed its due to the number 4 or 14 are not good numbers in the East.

While true, it's peculiar because the 772 Polaris skips 13 and 14 as well, so the 77W ends 12, 15, 16, 17, 18 and the 772-P ends 12, 15. While the 77W starts Y with row 19, the 772-P starts with row 26. Even accounting for the likely addition of PE to those planes, on the 77W it would likely only change rows 19-22 to PE while on the 772-P, PE would likely remove rows 26-29 or so.

I doubt that the plan is to convert row 15 and higher from both planes to PE, although perhaps some high density version could achieve that.

I hate when they skip rows! Makes some awkward situations when people confuse their seats!

14 is considered highly unlucky in some places.

I see why now...

Mandarin-speaking regions in China, 14 and 74 are considered more unlucky than the individual 4, since 14 sounds like "wants / is going to die"

Then shouldn’t the rows be 8, 88, 888, 8888, 88888....

My guess would be, since the even/odd row numbers have slightly different alignments (odds are closer to the windows than evens, and odd row middle pairs are better for couples than even middle pairs), if they're going to skip 13, they might as well skip 14 to keep the even/odd sequencing.

Odds are closer to the windows? I’ve never noticed this.

I believe rmadisonwi is referring to J on aircraft with Polaris hard product. Odd row Polaris seats are closer to window, even seats closer to aisle.

There is however a row 4, so not sure the unlucky number explanation is the reason.
