2. Bamboo is buying 20 789s. SGN-SFO/LAX likely, UA won’t want to complete, so forget about SGN.
3. UA upgraded EWR-BOM capacity by switching to a 77W. So SFO may draw less connection traffic to India
4. Remember, UA getting a shiny new 77W in Q4 that needs to fly somewhere...

That leaves BKK! OP, buy your buddy a drink and let’s get some closure!
YES Bangkok. From wherever - SFO on 788/9 or tag from HKG (unlikely).

Well, UA is adding Prescott AZ from LAX and DEN. It's an EAS route. I'm sure that's what everyone here had in mind.

Ie..

SFO-BKK or HKG-BKK
SFO-SGN or HKG-SGN
SFO-KUL or HKG-KUL
Perhaps they mean a destination served by *A. That seems to be how UA defines "UA Destination" sometimes.

I don't believe the one has any bearing on the other.

IAD-TLV will be a 772, and only three days a week. Hardly a major depletion of the fleet. And if UA does Bangkok, they'll utilize a 787.

Are there any "Tier 1" slots available for UA to reconsider SFO-CAN under the US-China bilateral?

I think that Air China operates SJC-SHenzhen but Air China abandoms SJC-PEK soon. There is some hope that UA can do SFO-CAN if Air China does not do well with SJC-Shenzhen.

There is a tremendous amount of new capacity going into SIN from various US airports (SFO, LAX, EWR). I think UA will evaluate how that plays out before deciding on BKK. FWIW, UA did order 4 more 789s due in 2020. That frame would reach BKK as well as the other cities discussed in this thread. BTW, for those of you hoping for India, Wow will start service into DEL in Dec -- allowing connections from SFO and myriad other US airports.

There are four Tier 1 slots available, but not enough to provide a daily service. https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...v-serv-448701/
PVG-IAD seems to be a big hole for UA. If UA has a spare 788 or 789 available, PVG-IAD may be a reality.
