So many CRJ-200s

It is sad to be a various airports, and see AA, DL, and WN with full size planes, and then UX trundles up with their RJ.
One thing about the Devil's Chariot, however, it still has the same type of seats that it always had. Given UA's blanket retrofitting of "slimline" seats, it's a wonder they haven't come up with a slimline mod for a CRJ that could increase capacity to 54 seats or so. Ugh, I shouldn't give them any ideas. Daze

Why?
Because the CRJ-200 and ERJ-145 both have exactly 50 seats.
Why is that significant?
The FAA allows a ratio of up to 50 passengers per flight attendant. If they add an extra row, they also have to add an extra FA.

I guarantee this won't happen. They could slimline the planes, but there's no real reason to do so, as they won't add any new rows.

Are those non-stops? Looking at today's flight status I see only A3xx and 738's. The CRJ-200 does show up on both legs of a connection through CKB! Short of a completely sold out schedule for nonstops, are there really people booking this itinerary? It's the same aircraft on both legs (#N925SW).
Yes, these aircraft are not fun to fly in, but this is cherry picking - 1 RT a week on the least busiest travel day, much less for business. Not to mention that hub-hub express flights are extremely limited by the pilot contract. I do hate these aircraft on longer routes - flown ER4 on DEN-CVG a couple of times which is almost 1000 miles. Never want to do that again

It's not that, it's a Saturday morning only nonstops:

I find the CRJ-200 tolerable for short flights, but downright awful for longer flights. A couple of my pet peeves are YYC-DEN with a block time of 2.5 hours, and YYC-SFO at over 1000 miles with a block time of 3h10 min. Those routes historically had a mix of mainline, E175's, CR7, but the dreaded CR2's have been creeping onto the schedule in the past year. I try to avoid those flights at all costs due to the CR2. I really wish UA would keep those planes off flights of 2+ hours, and especially those approaching 3 hours.

I noticed the IAD-ORD flights when doing an SDC in a saturday morning. I decided not to go when that was all that was offered. Guess the other flights filled up.
Wonder when United will figure out they can start flying 737s to Europe.

Devil's Chariot? I call it the Bad Dreamliner. I recently started working more out of SGF and the only non stop from DEN is the 200, and it's like $850+ to boot. I'm flying thru ORD or IAH or just flying into MCI and driving. There has definitely been an uptick in 200's lately. It's like death by a thousand cuts.
I don't care what UA's seating chart says, there is no E+ on that plane. Every seat is miserable.

You know what I hate about the devil's chariot (by the way I'm working hard to avoid them but I just see them everywhere I seem to need to go these days) - in windy weather you seem to get tossed about like Justin Bieber in prison. As a hater of turbulence induced nausea (never liked roller coasters) they're so frustrating. At least on the first YYZ-IAD legs i can usually get a 900 but the connections elsewhere lately have been CRJ200. Sigh. And not just on United - Air Canada has these things going YYZ - STL (I'm on one in a few days) - that's a long time. Very annoying.

spent enough time on the CR2 to know not a single seat qualifies as E+, ever. Bring back the ENB 120, even that is better.

CLE-IAH is downgauged from an ERJ-145 to a CRJ200. Block time is 3h20 or 3h40.
I needed to take this trip in 2 weeks and the seat map is almost full - no good seats left, such as they are. Driving to PIT instead which still has some ERJ-170 service to IAH.

~Seven years ago now Delta implemented a rule where single-class planes wouldn't be used on domestic routes longer than 750 miles. CLE-IAH at 1,091 statute miles, oof! I remember CVG-IAH from more than 20 years ago. (Still, you wouldn't find me driving to PIT if I lived in Cleveland.)

I live near CAK, so Cleveland is an hour away and PIT around 1:15-1:30.
The problem with CLE is it’s a much slower airport to navigate. If picking up or dropping off a rental car, CLE involves driving a few extra miles and a bus ride. PIT means a brief walk from short term parking. CLE has a long walk almost worthy of IAD to United’s gates. PIT has a speedy train with United’s gates near the centre of the midfield terminal.
Going back on topic, the CRJ200 flights seem to be consistently staged a little longer than PIT’s ERJ175s and ERJ170s. PIT is also slightly closer to IAD, EWR, and IAH. The same destination like IAD, EWR, or IAH is consistently 10-20 minutes less block time from PIT.
CAK is supposed to get IAH flights in July on the ERJ-145. Dreading that it will end up being a CRJ200.

I'm really not sure why I like the E45 more. It only has 3 seats across so I would think the plane is smaller. But even when I'm on the right, it seems more comfortable.

1. The 145 has wider seats
2. The 145 seats are not slimlined hence more cushion (there was a time the 145 was the park bench of the fleet....my oh my how it only got worse)
3. The lateral heat of pax bodies is less on the 145. You have a shorter distance for any pax to be exposed to the wall/outside temp.
