Buying premier miles -- jacked up cost as year ends?

Will make it quick -- it's my fault really -- will be 1500 miles short of 1K. Thought buying an extra 2000 premier miles would be cheap as I have one more flight before the year is up. However, it's going to cost $1250 to get 5000 premier miles on that last flight? Could have sworn I've seen cheaper "purchase premier" miles options.

Does anyone know if the cost will fall? Any other options other than BIS?

Thanks.

Absolutely, very standard for the cost per PQM to increase at the end of the year. It has every year of the program (since 2012)

Not in this calendar year, generally for some reason it stays high until March or so.

UA knows your options are limited and as each day goes by, it does not get better. Actually, it is notable the price increases seem to start later this year (usually has been earlier in December).

You could wait for the January Buyup offer, but it has historically has been at about the same price level you are presently seeing.

There are just the four choices
  1. Buy Premier Accelerator Now
  2. Fly Now
  3. Take the January offer
  4. Pass

I'm well past 1K, and need 5000 to the next set of RPUs. My offers are 9000,11000,16000 and 18000. 2.5 CPM redeemable + 12 CPM premier qualifying. Effectively, $650 per RPU. I passed.
