United is anticipated to take 4 787-10s in 2018. Any speculation on routes?

Interesting read. So, it looks like SQ will launch the plane in Q2'18. Is there already a confirmed delivery/lauch month for UAs?

Another retro-787

The SQ livery looks good on the 787.

well the plane has roughly 1200 miles less range than the 789 (6400 nm vs. 7600 nm) and a shorter range than the 77W ( 7300 nm ) or 772 (7000 nm). So it will not be used on ULH routes.

This is an 18' stretch of the 789 (which seats 252 in UA's configuration) which would allow about 7 more rows of Y at 32" pitch, but assuming 4 rows of PE (at 7x) and two more rows of Y- (converting another E+ into Y-) it will seat around 294. That is more than the 772 (which seats 267 in the sCO configuration).

I would expect to see this used to upgage 772 routes that face competition, where having PE would help UA to avoid the loss of traffic to other PE products, and the new Polaris seats are needed. Think SFO-LHR, SFO-TPE, SFO-NRT.

p.s. expect some questions re this, and PE on the call this afternoon, that is assuming the analysts can get beyond UA's ongoing under-performance in passenger revenue metrics.

Expectation is yes. Along with launching the new PremY product, too.

LOPAs should be official any day now, though when they leak to the public is anyone's guess.

Will be really interested to see the LOPA, and in particular, the degree to which PE will impact the number of J seats.

I believe the acronym comes from Layout of Passenger Amenities (the "A" could be something different).

Aircraft Interior Configuration Document (May commonly be called a LOPA)
The Aircraft Interior Configuration Document is an engineering diagram of the aircraft’s cabin interior that includes, but is not limited to, locations of passenger and flight attendant seats, emergency equipment, exits, lavatories, and galleys. It leads the reviewer through the interior design/layout and is the document that certifies the interior components and installation.

Unless UA is also thinking about creating additional 787 pilot bases, I expect the 787-10 to be flown on routes centered around the current 787 pilot bases. Initially, they may sub for the 772 to allow the 772 to be retrofitted with new seats. I expect SFO and IAD to see some actions first.

It would be nice to see some PS flights and transcon flights out of IAD to get the planes ready into the fleet.

i expect this and predicted it in the P+ thread, that P+ would cannibalize some Polaris capacity.
