United has been using the 787-10 on LAX-NRT occasionally the past few weeks.

I had the 787-10 booked with 3 flights ewr-lax and ALL of them changed and I have still not flown the UA bird however I did get to try the SQ 787-10 before it was parked with faulty engines.

Seems like the 787-10s are getting swapped out often. I have a EWR-SFO trip coming up and would intentionally take a later flight to get in the 787-10.

I was pretty happy about that. i noticed I was re-assigned seating on check-in but didn't even consider that it was due to an aircraft change. still safer to opt for the ANA flight until it's a firm change.

Hope taking the 781 off EWR - LAX/SFO doesn't stick.

I routed my RDU - SYD flight later this year via EWR so I could snag PP on the 781 at C+ pricing (and the outside chance my mileage upgrade will clear since my LAX - SYD has already cleared and nothing else RDU - XXX - LAX would clear on the spot)

It seems like the 787-10 is now scheduled for UA 857 on SFO-PVG and the return UA 858 PVG-SFO for Winter 2019. UA 891/890 will be served by a 777-200.

airlineroute just tweeted that 78J will be used on LAX-PVG in dec/jan, and then switches to SFO-PVG in february for one of the two daily frequencies.

This plane looks like a great fit for SFO.

LAX-PVG is 6500 miles, so where can UA fly from SFO? Looks like everything in Asia except SIN/DEL/HKG/CTU. No Australia, but probably AKL. All of Europe (but not TLV). All of South America including EZE, GRU, GIG. Lots of possibilities.

The 787-10 fortunately has been fairly consistent on the LAX-EWR-LAX runs.

Yuck, that's awful. Makes perfect business sense, but bad news for upgrades

Even if you score the upgrade, not so great for flights that long. Seat is too narrow.
