"Our commitment to California" email
OAK/SJC-LAX? What else can they do in California besides making a north/south shuttle?
"Dear (World's Most Awesomest UA Flyer)*, As we head into the new year full of new beginnings, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. I recently joined United Airlines as the President of California. As a Californian and long-time United customer, I will be working hard to ensure that United Airlines best serves you and our communities.https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pngUnited’s California initiatives, including the creation of my role, are evidence of how important this market and our California customers are to us. I am proud to join a company working on issues that I care deeply about and that are important to Californians, including diversity and inclusion, protecting our environment, and the economic vitality of our communities.https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pnghttps://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pnghttps://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pnghttps://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pngUnited has been part of California for more than 90 years, providing the best service and best network to connect you to the world. It’s a privilege to serve you and to help improve the communities in which you work and live.https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pngThank you for your business. I look forward to many opportunities to exceed your expectations in 2018.https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr.../united/sp.pngAll the best, https://ci4.googleusercontent.com/pr..._Signature.jpg Janet Lamkin President, California" *I added that |
First I was excited to hear from the President of California. Then I realized that not even the President was going to get me mainline service to several markets from OAK.

Wonder if the new NJ/NY president will be sending a similar one...

It is a regional position. Sounds more marketing oriented, but may have some input into operations. |
"President", I love the importance they bestow on themselves, a leaf right out of Idi Amin's book, whom as we all know was "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular". And of course, the uncrowned King of Scotland.

Sounds like a great email. I’m scratching my head why the responses are negative |

I don't think anyone was sounding negative...perhaps skeptical or quizzical? Closer read of the email I do see it talks about "values" and inclusion which makes it seem like PR marketing fluff vs. ramping up Ops.

Sounds like a great email. I’m scratching my head why the responses are negative I live in California and she isn't my president. The title is a falsehood, a marketing naming failure. She might be president of some California focussed division of United, but she isn't president of California. The concept of a United "president of California" makes no sense by itself. There is no explanation of what "California" is. Is she the only employee of "California"? Now waiting for the next email to find out who is President, United States. Should make for some good tweets. ;) |
Maybe she can help with gate issues at LAX? I'm tired of landing and waiting 20 minutes for our gate to open up.
|
I wonder if there is a President of North Dakota.
