Maybe Buzz is UA elite? I saw him about a year ago sitting behind me in First on a domestic flight (from LA to I don't remember where). Though I do remember as we were boarding I saw a rather gruff elderly caucasian male wearing a bomber jacket with at least 15 patches sewn on and at least 10 little pins pinned on. And I do remember thinking it was rather tacky! Anyhow, the only reason I know it was Buzz Aldrin is because after everyone was seated and situated, one of the pilots said their usual 'welcome aboard' and then added something like , 'we are honored to have an important part of history with us today with Buzz Aldrin flying with us" etc...

FYI... his contract with Netflix is rumored to be 8 figures. His race team finished 3rd at Indy last weekend. His worth wouldn't suffer consequentially if he flew private.
Indeed.

He's a comedian too - lots of material flying UA for people who get a kick out of seeing absurd things.

Maybe his charter went mechanical / crew had an issue.

Maybe he's concerned about safety - record of private vs commercial isn't terrific.

Maybe he was heading to Australia and didn't know about the Polaris lounge. Actually my bigger question is why they didn't shephard him there.

Maybe he likes to watch planes.

Oh the assumptions made around here by the peanut gallery - they are priceless.

All I know is I would have paid full fare to sit next to him on that flight or get to chat with him at the club bar.

I thought you were talking about Buzz Aldrin for a moment, and was about to say "yeah private planes are the most dangerous form of conveyance he's been on...."

Just sat next to VP Dick Cheney from IAH to DEN in F. He was continuing on to Jackson.

Surprised me that he is just a regular guy - he was making a grocery list to pickup when he landed -bread, eggs, milk, OJ...

Wow, I would have thought he would have a Secret Service escort sitting next to him.

I sat next to him about 2 years ago from SAT to IAD. Pretty normal guy - he likes his whiskey.

In other news - saw Laura Bush in the SAT United Club (which is tiny) about 2 weeks ago after she gave a speech in town. There were 4 police / USSS agents outside the club and 3 inside. She was flying to IAD.

Marian Wright Edelman 6/19 on delayed IAD to FRA. Had a nice chat about her work with children. Missed her connecting flight too. She stood in the same line with the rest of us while some DYKWIA 1K from our flight tried to monopolize both agents demanding to know *exactly* where his bag was (hint, probably not off the plane quite yet.....)

Does it count as a celeb sighting if I had one of the FA's from Big Metal Bird serve us in FC?

Local celeb for Denver, but Mike Sawaya, trial injury lawyer was on our LHR-DEN flight earlier this week. He got on the elevator in the Club and he looked familiar, but my wife recognized him from his voice- he does his own ads. He was in boarding line in front of us with his daughter and I talked to him. Nice guy. In Denver, going thru immigration he and I ended up at an escaltor at the same time. I told him to go first, as "I didn't want to run into him". Dad humor at its best... Nice guy.

Craig Biggio is on my current IAH-EWR flight, sitting up here in F. Nice guy, I've meet him a few times in the past too.

She was pretty easy on the eye herself, watch the episode where Katie works with the FA's on the LAX/IAH flight.

Yao Ming on UA1884 IAH-PDX this evening. He was in 1B (me in 3B). The lady immediately behind him in 2B was complaining that he had his seat reclined all the time when is was just his weight pushing the seat back a little. He’s not quite as slim as he was in his playing days.

And after we deplaned (gate E5) he headed for the bathroom, and the top of the entrance was at eye level for him.

Can't even imagine being that tall. Even with the fame/money, don't think I could ever do it due to situations like this.
