Correct. Not *A metal (or UA partner), no miles.

Apparently I was right, yes, UC access if flying in Biz / Domestic FC without status

Yes, but just at the departure airport. Any INTL flight qualifies
Consolidated "United Club Access Questions" Thread

From UA's website
All other international routes are United Business® and include use of the United Club: Guam, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, Colombia, Ecuador and Lima.

Not domestic. It must be international.

Sorry, poor choice of words.

Referring to UA's mixed use of FC and Biz on cross border flights. Come to think of it, they seem to intermingle them on domestic US flights as well at times.

To clarify, ticketed Up front, in front of coach, UAL boarding pass will get you access to UC.

I don't really track my miles as I rarely use them but this caught my eye as unusual. I booked a fare about 2 months ago for COS-DEN-LHR and the return LHR-DEN-COS. My booked fare was S class and I chose to use miles + $ to request an upgrade. 3 of the 4 legs upgraded the next day and the fourth (DEN-LHR) never did.

What confuses me is that it seems like the the DEN-LHR segment earned more award miles than the LHR-DEN segment:

In fact, as you can see above, the outbound segment earned more award miles and PQD than the equivalent inbound segment. Anyone see this before? I get not receiving bonus award miles or PQM since it was an upgrade but why would the base fare segment earn more than the upgraded segment?

That's just the way United allocates the fare across the segments. These numbers should match the PQD breakdown for your itinerary, but the algorithms are proprietary.

You likely had different base fares for the outbound and the return. They may both have been S fares, but that doesn’t mean that they’re the same value — the cheaper fare could have had a day-of-the-week restriction that only your return flight met, for example.

If on an international flight including cross-border flights.

Two class cross-border flights, the premium cabin is International Business.
Most domestic flights the premium cabin is domestic first. Exceptions p.t.s / PS flights the premium cabin is Business and the occasional 3-class domestic sold as 3-class will have First & Business -- these are getting to be very rare.

The p.t.s./PS Business cabin passenger have access to UCs -- as part of the premium service.
The other domestic First / Business is not a factor for UC access.

We're considering skipping the last leg [MUC-VCE] of our itinerary [STL-IAD-MUC-VCE], but I want to confirm I have 2 one-ways booked and not a round trip and totally screw our return. When I booked the tickets, I recall had to book 2 separate on ways because of an issue with the app but I want to be 100% sure.

Anyway, within the app it shows a reservation for STL-VCE and then below that is FCO-STL, and each has it's own confirmation #. So, that implies 2 one ways, correct? There's no way they automatically roll them info a round trip ticket is there?

Yes. And since they're on separate PNRs, you're safe.

Your best bet would be to ask your friend.
