Good luck!
What do you mean by this? IAD is actually my home airport. I'd much rather fly out of IAD but this routing through EWR was literally half as much when I booked.

Are you on the upgrade list for Thursday's flight (which has only 3 nonrevs listed) or the list of 12 "customers eligible for upgrade"?

How do you get in the Upgrade waitlist for in international flight on a K fare without an upgrade instrument?

You can't do with an instrument either, you need a W fare or better. I guess he would be eligible for a CPU but that would be a long shot.

It's not a CPU eligible flight.

I don't understand OP's post. The waitlist for UA889 on 10/4 has three names on it, all nonrevs.

Right. You can absolutely use an instrument on a K fare to PEK, as long as the instrument is miles + copay. No CPU, but OP would be op-up eligible if Y is oversold.

I'm thinking OP is talking about the list of "eligible customers" which is probably "every person with status." It's probably the order that op-ups would go in but I don't know if the flight is oversold.

I was thinking of "instruments" as GPU/RPUs but yes you are correct if the "instrument" is mile + copay. With a K fare I have to believe an op-up would even be more of a long shot, as you I don't know if it is over sold as well.

It's wide open in every fare bucket. G9 X9 (and I9 R9 as well). Doubt anyone's getting op-upped.

Hmmm, IAH-ICT tomorrow on E175. Only 1 seat booked. 1K still hasn’t cleared at T-24. Wonder if I’ll clear....

Seriously, does UA think it will really sell 11 seats???

SDC (Same Day Change) to a different flight, which might have upgrade inventory (R-class) available. In your case ideal would be UA # 52 IAD-ZRH n/s.
However, as others have pointed out, SDC in your case might be not that easy, using a gifted cert.

Fx vs the Seat Map

Looking at a flight for next week. When I try a test booking for the flight, the details shows F3 vs the Seat Map only showing 1.

Who can I believe?

Believe the inventory. Is the aircraft type a 752 or 77G?

757 - Lie flats

Another piece of anecdotal info, is that the reservation page also says "3 tickets available" for the FC fare.

I know they will oversell coach, but would they oversell FC too?

No. 4AB are blocked for crew rest and will be released around T-60h. I'm assuming this is an sCO 752 flying a domestic route because inventory is F and not J.
