Requalified for 1K on 19-DEC-2018.
PQM: 137,072
PQS: 59.5
PQD: $12,000 exactly. Somehow my final business trip tallied to 656 PQD, which is exactly what I needed. That was not planned, and was quite...surprising.

One more flight this year - home to AKL - that was booked as a spur-of-the-moment will push me to 143,588 PQM and $13,755 PQD. I will have to be very careful in 2019 to get all my Star travel on 016 tickets. Unfortunately I had quite a few 220 and 205-issued tickets that did not qualify for PQD.

Edit: also requalified for EXP in November; and total BIS for 2018 is 107 flights, 221,705 miles. 24 upgrades (whether CPU/RPU/GPU/etc). 8 fewer flights, and 10k less miles than 2017.
Edit edit: also should probably hit 1MM in 2019, now that the LH SJC-FRA flight is gone. Currently at 925K.

Presumably you don't have a NZ address you could use? I'm a Canadian ex-pat living in the UK and was able to get Gold with just ~$1,000 in PQD (primarily on UA k fares). The PQD waiver really saved my bacon here!

Using my NZ address is the backup plan. I should still hit $15k PQD if I can be more careful about my ticketing (trying to explain this to the corporate TA is challenging. They still haven't understood PQD at all.)

Presumably if you have a NZ address and hold a NZ passport, how could UA argue that you aren't a Kiwi for residency purposes?

Now, time to wait 3 months for my 1K membership material to turn up in the mail...

Finally hitting 1k today after postponing my November trip due to illness. Not sure of the final tally as I did a SDC, but the route and class of service is the same, and the only question is whether PQDs got affected (shouldn't, but I have learned to never say never with UA's IT). DEN-IAD for the final flight of 2018 for me!

I hit:

PDM 112193
PDS 78
PQD 12596

I also hit just over 3k on DL making me FO again next year (yippee....). The real reason I did it was because I have MQM's over there over 150k. I can roll them over to next year and maybe if I feel like it hit a higher status with them.

Going to be tough though with the $15k PQD requirement.

To make it all the sweeter, my GPU cleared after being in Paris for a conference talk!
Hit 1K on my last flight of the year, and cleared a PS RPU to boot!

Ended up going home to family in NY instead of Australia, so I’ll just need to make it up next year
