He is in Economy + class. He contacted the united.com/appreciation and requested what compensation they may be offering.
They came back with an offer of 7500 Mileage Plus airmiles and $150 voucher.
Knowing full well that if this journey was in the reverse direction LHR-EWR then he could claim 600 Euros. He has missed a night in an hotel in London which was on a non-refundable rate.
So far he is rejecting the offer (he did eventually speak with a Customer service rep on the phone but the guy seemed to be in the Philippines and couldn’t really help with compensation requests). ....

as far as the non-refundable room, some chains will accept a letter from UA to waive those room night (see wiki of this thread for more)

SFO-HKG delayed by 90 mins
My experience on 4/13 on UA869: the aircraft had arrived from Taipei early in the morning. When we got around to boarding the flight at 12:20, we were told that the aircraft required cleaning. The delay was posted as "Delay due to operational difficulties". We waited and finally got on board more than an hour later. As we completed the boarding procedures, the delay reason was switched to "Delay due to weather in the network". Finally got out 90 minutes late and we all missed our connections in HKG.
The switching of the reason for the delay made all of us roll our eyes as it was a bright and sunny day in SFO. The inbound aircraft was on the ground in SFO more than 6 hours earlier so it cannot be that.

UA890 for Monday, April 23 will arrive about 24 h behind the schedule. I guess that there was no need to have two flights leaving approximately the same time.
Edit: check the App again. The aircraft is still near PVG. I am puzzled by the info on the App. Does anyone know the details of this flight?

does anyone know what happened yesterday?
UA126 IAD-DUB 752 diverted to YYT then sat there for 3 hours (looks like maintenance) then left the gate to fly back to EWR then returned to the gate, then delayed 7 hours due to flight preparation
then cancelled due to crew. Sounds like a huge nightmare.
of course therefore today's
UA127 DUB-IAD 752 cancelled
