LAX-BOS 7/5 Lunch

Cleared a CPU at the gate, full PDB, hot towels, warm nuts, chicken and artichoke which was great. Other was ravioli and mushroom which look really good.

Sorbet dessert served separately, warm cookie before landing.

Excellent service overall!

AUS-IAD UA6028 operated by Messy
E175
0715 departure

No PDBs offered, not sure why Breakfast was served after drink orders and not half bad, definitely better than the pre-packaged cheese plate breakfast I got last time. After breakfast, FA disappeared behind the curtain and didn't surface again unless someone rang their call button or it was time to land.

has the milk accompanying breakfast cereal been enhanced?

I was on an ORD-AUS flight this morning and opted for the raisin bran breakfast choice. It now comes with a 4 fluid ounce milk carton, not really enough to wet all the cereal. This seems like a reduction to me. Didn't they used to serve a half-pint of milk with these breakfasts?

Newark - EWR

Choice of pizza calzone with pepperoni and sausage or salmon salad.

Was hoping for a hamburger, but the calzone was quite tasty. Served with grapes and Ghirardelli chocolate.

UA758
Newark - EWR

Los Angles - LAX
8:56a

Choice of savory cheese quiche, brioche soufflé with apple, or cereal.

I've never tried the French Toast soufflé on UA so I deviated from my usual egg choice.

WOW! This is addictingly good. Absolutely delicious. But my goodness, look all the carbs and fat on my tray...

So, I assume that those carbs and fat were consumed?

When will UA understand how dumb it looks they use an entire plate for a piece of chocolate that’s 1 inch by 1 inch.

That plate is used downline for something more substantial. They have to keep the serviceware moving through the network to handle catering requirements at all stations. When you start to learn about airline catering logistics, it all makes sense, regardless of how "dumb" it looks.

I’ve got mixed feelings on the calzone. On one hand if done right it’s a decent meal. On the other having lived thru the calzone/chicken bouquet/hot pocket that was served post merger, it’s bound to become old quickly. But it would be nice if it had a salad or something else to go along rather than the lone chocolate. UA now lags behind AA and DL with respect to catering, I don’t expect five course meals but at least use some common sense with what they are offering. Giving F the ability to ask for something from Y BOB is not a good solution....maybe lower cost in their minds, but definitely going to create ill will when someone from Y in row 10 asks for a cheeseburger and the FA won’t be able to offer it because 5 people in F already did.

and overall it’s ridiculous how they seem to be reverting to old ways and not realizing that they will never get beyond the public perception issue unless they get their act together.
