United has reconfigured its 757-300 planes to increase density, primarily by adding non E+ seats (1 fewer E+ seats, 22 more E seats).

New Configuration
Boeing 757-300 (753)
24F 54E+ 156E

Post 165 assesses Seats 7DE (and 8ABC) (summary - watch out)
The armrest between 23 B/C and D/E is movable.
The inboard armrest on 23A & F is fixed and contains the tray table.

My wife is silver and when she was in 9-A, she kept 9-A even before the 24 hour window as the seat map is usually finalized 48 hours prior.

Any idea what was up with the seat map?

It looks like (DEN -> SFO) in June is showing a pretty odd 757-300 map.

Row 9 ABC / DEF is showing as Economy
Row 10-12 as E+
Row 15 ?
Row 16-19 as Economy
Row 20 (missing)
Row 21 E+

Rest all Economy

Is this a new config or some odd UI bug?

Hybrid config only showing seats in both configs, since they don't have a specific aircraft assigned yet.

Aha! I was just about to post a similar question ... SFO-ORD flights in a week or so all have this goofy config.

Odd 757-300 seat map

I have a DEN-SFO leg on a 757-300 later this month, and the seat map in Y doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't show door 2, starts with row 9 (which is E-), and then *appears* to have E+ in rows 10-12, E- in 15-19, a single over-wing exit row in 21, E- from 24 to 34, and more E- from 36-41 (behind another set of doors). F looks fine, with 6 rows. It's not wholly out of line for a 753, but not one that I recognize at all.

Is this a real configuration, or is the seat map just wonky? It doesn't match V1 or V2 listed on the UA website...

What are chances of a double swap (SFO-DCA)? Seat map changed to real older version, and wouldn't mind grabbing 7C in lieu of 21D, but don't really want risk of double switch and losing seat entirely.

Hard to say with universality, but it's happened to me once out of six times being on the 753 in the past few months. I got a text at about T-23.5 saying aircraft swap, and then another one ten minutes later (both were real). I had grabbed 8 when the map first shook out, and my seat actually was not changed either time.

OF course, 8 exists on both planes (exit row on new version, so not on hybrid). 7 exists only for DEF, so taking 7ABC is a gamble.

Right. Sorry, I was thinking that but overlooked actually writing it.

I have also seen them on my 753 flights - I would say probably between 15% and 50%.

Yikes - the marginal difference in exit row seats hardly justifies the risk of ending up seatless (or middle-seated)
