Well, what do your records include? Any old BPs, credit card statements, ticket invoices, MP cards?

If you don't have something, the only chance is to call up United MP and ask if they have it in their records - they might.

Given that their systems seem to accept old numbers—
Using OLD UA Mileage Plus Number
—it's got to be in there somewhere, and just a question of whether or not the person you call can figure out how to find it.

For my own number, I was able to find it by searching my email for airport pairs, like 'SFO JFK', and then checking for the FF number.

I don't even have to look for it as I can clearly remember the numbers

I am a little saddened that I actually can not remember mine entirely.

Same—I remembered all the digits but not the exact order. Would trade my new one for the old one though.

I remember mine to this day, even made the mistake of using it at a United Club recently when I was in AutoPilot mode. Got a chuckle from the staff that overheard me. Mine had so many zeros in it (only two at the beginning, but more in the total number) that it's super easy to remember.

I was delighted to have them adopt the pmCO numbers - I could always remember that but not the 9 (10?) MP digits, even though I flew United more than CO. I think having letters helps.

An email from 2015 contained my old number. The subject line is Up to 6,000 bonus miles + triple miles from LivingSocial.

BTW, another thing that might allow you to dig it up is mileage plus dining - I feel like that may still contain my old number.
