I've managed to use 16 since I made 1k mid 2016 which is kinda mind blowing.

This year I'm at 123,576 PQM .1424 miles away from 2 more RPUs. I can fly LGA-ORD for $138 (GRRRR BE - the BE fare is $50 cheaper) LGA-ORD RT should give me 1466 miles.

Worth it?

LGA also attractive as I could get a nice few hours in at the centurion lounge

What flights have you been upgrading? PS flights or UX jumps? That'll define the value of two RPUs for you.

Personally, I'd skip the run, save the money and spend it buying up to first to guarantee the seat in first. No guarantee that you'll be able to use all those RPUs next year.

EWR-ORD difference between G and P is $130 one way. If you're burning RPUs on EWR-ORD that means you're valuing them at a minimum of $130 each.

So does your time flying + $138 (MR ticket) > $260? Simplified, if your time spent flying on the MR is worth less than $122, then got for it.

About four years ago, I need around 1000 miles to cross 300,000 for the additional 2 RPUs and 2 GPU's. I flew on ORD-LGA-ORD on December 30. It was around $150. It was a turn - got off the plane and went back on it again in less than an hour. Same purser in F. She looked at me and was wondering ...? I started to explain and she started laughing and said' "Oh, you are one of those."

Yes is my answer to you.

Based upon this fact (you can use them all), just do it! (The late Nancy Reagan said so.)

Definitely go for it. Nice enough run, Cent at LGA is great, decent odds of a VDB (all else equal), and RPUs at a price of $69 each. When you consider that's below the ToD offer on even BOS-EWR, that's got to be worth it.

As I burn most of my RPUs on ORD-LGA trips, for me the answer would be no.

I probably would but I would also make use of the day and grab lunch with a NYC based friend. The price you're paying for the MR is less than the general worth of an RPU as others have pointed out. It's really subjective.

If you're a member of the United 1K Members group on Facebook you would be told absolutely not as if you believe that group, no RPU's/GPU's ever clear. Ever.

If you are so lucky to be able to use RPUs, go for it. I was in a lot of domestic flights on Thanksgiving Sunday with a GPU with GUM-HNL. Only GUM-HNL and ORD-YOW cleared, while all other segments were not(HKG-GUM, HNL-SFO, SFO-ORD).

Worth it. Especially if you can get some of the EWR-SFO's to clear.

I would absolutely do it. I'd make a run to Kenosha, Wisconsin to pick up some New Glarus and make it worth the trip.
(Doing this exact trip next weekend and doing this exact thing!)
