EWR-ELM is interesting - I thought UA had been cutting back a number of EWR-upstate NY routes in the recent past.
Nice to see LAX getting some routes as well, but again - really puzzling why they don't add back an obvious hole like LAX-PDX.

Strange to see Fresno getting some love. I wish we still had MRY-DEN.
Not sure the timings but I'll let one of my close friends know about LAX-MSO, they have a large family and ranch outside of the city. I'm sure they would rather do MRY-LAX-MSO than driving to SFO/SJC.

Yeah that one is interesting. They dropped ELM (from ORD) just last year.

The Kirby strategy seems to be
1) 'give people who don't have many choices more choices' - trying to be the most convenient carrier for some of the smaller cities and have a shot at being dominant market share for each of those cities like MFR, FAT
2) if you're going to fill a well served market, try to make it a competitor's hub where you're milking their big margin.
Is it right? Don't have the numbers to say.

Looks like there are 15 flights a day LAX-PDX - so in terms of the total market for consumers it's more well served than a lot of other routes.
