Air China Flight Crediting to MP Issue
I had a recent round trip in C in Air China from EWR to MNL via PEK.
The miles for the two outbound segments appeared in my UA account after 15 days.
The miles for the two return segments never showed up. I sent the boarding pass stubs to UA and they requested a copy of the receipt, which I also provided. After a few days I received this from UA:
Upon contacting Air China they informed me:
I replied that NH account NH43927XXXXX is not my account and that I don't even have an NH account so they should reverse that and credit to my UA account to which they replied:
So these morons credited my flight to someone elses's account and are now saying, now that we've made this mistake there is nothing we can do to fix it, sorry for the inconvenience.
You might want to avoid Air China in the future if you want Star Alliance credit.

Dear Dr. X,
We’re always glad to hear from Premier 1K members like you. Thanks for writing.
Your flights from MNL-PEK-EWR on Oct 9-10 were credited to another Frequent Flyer program according to Air China. You would have to contact Air China to find out where they credited to.
We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.
Regards,

Dear Mr./Ms. X
We are pleased to receive your reply. We are sorry about the inconvenience caused to you!
We have no authority to delete the miles from the NH account, and we have no authority to add the miles to your UA account. Only we can do for you is to confirm which account the mileage accumulated to. So we kindly suggest you contact the NH airlines directly. Your understanding upon this would be highly appreciated.

Do you have your UA# on your boarding pass? If you don't have any ff number on file, some shady checkin agent might think you don't care miles and will create a FF profile for you then put miles into this account.

Maybe, but this was (apparantly) credited to some random ANA account. In any event, I don't have a Phoenixmiles account either.

Tell them that happend and tell them CA asked you to call them to release the miles back to CA. They surely will see that the person who was credit doesn’t have the same name as yours.
If this doesn’t help and depending on their answer, I’ll try make a conference call with CA and NH or ask either CA (or UA) to fix this matter directly with NH because you cannot do it by yourself.

How can the OP even call ANA (NH) and tell them what happened when he doesn't even know the full account number to reference?
NH isn't going to know what NH43887xxxx is since half the account number is missing. Nor does NH know who owns the account the OP is calling about because it's not in his/her name.
Unless CA gave up the entire NH account number I don't see how calling ANA does anything.
I'm in the middle of an Air China trip (within Asia) and my outbound flights haven't credited yet but that was 4 days ago. My UA number *does* appear on the BP.

Update:
After sending AirChina's replies to UA, UA credited the miles to my account.
However, Air China never stopped claiming that "we can't do anything."
Since the miles have been credited, I didn't pursue this matter any further, but I won't risk an Air China flight again. They're idiots.

Sorry to hear OP’s experience. I am glad OP has received the full credit.
i have flown Air China averaging 50K BIS each year for the past 10 years and credit them to my UA account. I only have one missing credit in ten years.
i read some of the posts in this thread and feel some of the assertions and representations made about Air China may not be consistent with my own experience, and want to share my experience to ensure the views expressed here are more balanced.
I have several unpleasant experience with Air China in other areas that I wish I don’t fly Air China as often, but none relate to crediting activities to M+ account.

For CA flights, I was not able to add my UA MP number to the reservation using CA's online system, but was able to add the number at the check-in counter. It is important to see the UA MP number printed on the boarding pass. After that the miles always posted correctly.

Mileage credit request error: already posted to another account
Hi all,
I travelled on Air China in November from San Francisco to New Delhi (Business Class) with my husband and 15 month old son. Unfortunately we didn't add our United Mileageplus account number during the booking. Now when I try to request mileage credit, error shows up: "mileage for this trip has been already posted to another account". I have no other account, and air china confirms that they haven't posted the mileage to any account.
Anyone else ever faced this? What should we do?
Thanks
