To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Predominantly F, A tickets, sprinkle of Y seats. 2 TPAC this year in F

Chances? I've been back at GS for 3 years now.
You will be fine. I qualified for this year with very slightly higher PQD but significantly more miles flown on cheaper fares (only 1 int'l). Not only that, but I qualified on Dec. 8, so I didn't have to play the waiting game. Like I said, I would be surprised if they even made you wait for your requalification.

My $26K PQD this year on 140,000 BIS miles will take me back to 1K though.... but based on some of the perks being nerfed down (particularly with clearing GPU's and CPU's), I will not be missing much.... though I will miss the next flight guarantee when my flights cancel (this saved me loads of time during weather issues the last couple years).

What's the next flight guarantee? Any qualifiers? Does it require any positive space? I don't see anything about it in the GS benefits wiki.

(I wonder what other benefits are missing…)

Missed connection / cancelled flight will result in being booked on the very next flight, regardless of whether seats are available or not. They will oversell you into Y. In my opinion.. this is the best perk of all, and saved me 3 times in the last 2 years. That is... saved me from being 24-36 hours late (if I were still a 1K) arriving at home vs. 2-8 hours late as GS with next-flight guarantee.

I had to give up first class fares and sit in Y in all 3 of those instances, but it was well worth it.

Curious to hear your thoughts on initial qualification. Currently I’m a 1K at $207k PQM, 115 PQS, and $42k PQD. I’ve got one more round trip domestic flight this year for work. I’m based out of ORD and from last year’s form data it looks like qualification is possible but not especially likely, maybe 50/50? Does that seem right?

I have some additional personal domestic travel booked on award tickets (for thanksgiving and Xmas) and I’m wondering if maybe I should switch those to cash fares.

I know the benefits have been cut a bit lately but I’m very interested in the ORD priority checkin and the ability to convert T to XN.

My wife made it for the first time with just under $40k spend, but it seems pretty rare from the spreadsheet, and her PQM/PQS was a lot lower than yours (because of all expensive premium cabin fares). If you want to improve your chances, it definitely makes sense to switch your award flights to cash fares. There seems to be an inflection point as you approach $50k, with qualification getting much more likely.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but out of curiosity: with GF going away, and Polaris often priced closer to BF than GF, is there any speculation as to the PQD threshold for GS coming down? Since the average spend of the top, say, 1% of 1Ks would likely be affected by the loss of an ability to pay GF fares.

It's an interesting question but I have my doubts... The customer paying cash, published fares, for GF is certainly a prime type of customer for UA to target with GS, but I doubt the real effects are that great.

Last year I spent close to $43k on UA and had 0 paid premium cabin transoceanic segments (1 BF with a GPU, 1 BF and 2 PB on miles) out of 8 total international segments (4 of those were paid "business" (C/Z) to/from/to/from NAS).

I didn't earn GS off of that spend but my point is that it's certainly not hard to spend $50k without GF.

Not making GS last year on that spend was probably the best thing for my sanity this year -- I'm delegating more travel to coworkers once I assured my 1K requal rather than grinding out every last trip myself -- similar CPM figure as last year but only about $25k (maybe $30k by EOY)

Running at 68k PQD

I have new SYD and TLV trips, bringing me to 68k PQD And about 350k PQM.

Really hoping this GS lights up on my account

I'll hit 35k PQD, and 228k PQM, all on UA metal. Am I dreaming for GS? Or does anyone think I have a shot if my base is PBI (assuming the statement address is used??).

If it matters, I just started on UA in March 2017. Just shy of my 2MM mark on Delta, so I came over as a status match. Not sure that matters.

Thanks for your ideas #WishMeLuck
