Interesting Flight Path

Saw the above flight path yesterday. Not sure why the plane did a sharp turn above Sibera and then did a significant detour before continuing to Beijing.

Anyone know what may be behind this detour?

Flight Aware shows that spike as a dashed line but a "normal" path in green.

Tracker glitch -- haven seen this many times before. This is not the actual path; just imagine the sharp part isn't there.

Its some bug in the FAA's modeling of the route. I think they're confusing two waypoints with the same name in different countries but I haven't looked into it closely.

As others have said, it's a glitch. It happens commonly on transatlantic and transpacific flights on flight trackers. Just ignore it.

A significant number of pax on that flight will now come forward and demand the extra miles flown as per the picture.

Others will complain the Captain didn't inform them of this deviation.

The largest number will demand an additional meal for this added flight time and compensation for not getting that meal.
