I'm short on PQD at the moment by well under $100. You've got me beat with that $7, though. Have $400 booked on 12/30. But also have $1200 booked in November.
I'd almost rather ditch the November trip and use it in January. Way over on miles already. Also would like the GPUs now instead of January, so a cheapo MR next week would be possible... Then I could book some April or May international travel with my GPUs...
Choices, choices...
And by the way, since my sig doesn't show on posts from my phone: go Hokies!

My debate right now is whether I keep my paid F trip in November or schedule a short hop instead... Or just wait until the end of the year.

Depending on how your travel schedule is looking for next year, ditching the November trip and use it in January might be a good way to kick-off a potential quest for hitting 1K next year.
For me trying to hit 1K for 2019 might be a non-starter depending on how easy it is to use GPUs for my most frequent route these days (PVG-SFO/LAX-SEA) and how cheap the upgrades from Y to J are on Hainan or Delta who fly PVG-SEA direct ... (Since I have no status with Hainan or Delta, I'd be terrified to fly in the back.)

I'm well over on spend but I'm about to finish at 99,795 PQM. I'll be taking an extra trip to go over it unless another business trip comes up this year.
Being based in Asia and not flying SQ that much (or on fares that don't earn miles) has killed me this year.
I have heard there's a soft landing to 1K from GS but I'm not going to risk it. Next year I may wind up living back in the US so 1K status will be nice to have. Would hate to drop to Plat.

I think I'll make it with 36,569 PQM's and 981 PQD's. Status match from AA EXP of course. And, I made AA EXP with only $3321 total spend, using premium cabin tickets on partners. It's much better than flying AA metal.

Congrats! I remember my first year as a 1K two years ago. I went from flying once or twice a year to every other week, going from no status to Gold, Platinum, and 1K in quick succession. Since then things have looked up and UA has treated me well
