SQ KrisFlyer lowers mileage earning for UA flights

For those who credit UA flights to Singapore KrisFlyer, discount economy will no longer earn 100%. This comes really with no notice and applies to flights departing on or after Oct. 1.

100% - B, E, H, M, U, Y
75% - Q, V, W
50% - L,S,T
25% - G, K

Big devaluation for those flying United on cheaper tickets (who don't care about status for one reason or another). One of the few things that kept me flying UA on cheap tickets vs OA (primarily Delta) - especially flights from RDU - Midwest/West Coast

Likely not UA's doing but more likely a direct result of the AS/SQ tie-up.

UA & SQ never seemed to have that great of a partnership.
And consulting the chart I see AS economy fares all earn 100% on KrisFlyer now.

It's great that I can fly AS/VX and earn miles on domestic flights, but the real sweet spot was flying UA internationally. For instance, EWR-SIN for 1.8cpm that I posted in Mileage Run Deals. Fly one or two of those and you're well on your way to *S/*G even.

This is just more fruits of Jeff's mismanagement of United.

United trashed it's service levels in 2012 and SQ started partnering with VX in December 2012 in partial response. Then in part to try to retain more of its own elite traffic (and keep them from flying non-JV *A partners) UA instituted the PQD requirement in 2013 which only gave PQD on 016 ticket stock. That really struck at the heart of what was supposed to be a seamless *A partnership.

As AS/VX is now strong enough to fully serve SQ's network in the US, SQ is limiting the ability of its own members to fly on UA, and trying to steer that traffic to AS/VX.

I did three UA transpac RT in the past 6 months (G class), which boosted my miles from 0 to over 50K (blue to gold). So sad that SQ have decided to axe this. Is there a possibility that I can email Larry with all my UA statements and get a challenge/match? I heard it's much easier for ST/OW gold getting a UA challenge, what's the chance of getting a match/challenge with SQ*G given that most of my statements are with United ?

Based on what I've heard from flyertea (a Chinese forum similar to FT), Larry is the person/team that handles all matches/challenges for UA..

If you have status with Delta/ST or AA/OW, then it's easy to get competitive challenge for 90days.

Disappointing even though I am part of the problem, flying cheap international tickets and expecting significant mileage rewards.

Any programs remaining that credit more than 50% for G?

Thanks making the UA forum aware of this, but as this is concerning the SQ KF program and there is a thread there about this, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/singa...ion-ua-kf.html . Let's take the discussion to the SQ forum.

SQ reduced RDMs effective 10/1

Singapore KrisFlyer program reduces many UA discount economy fare class RDMs. Effective without warning on flights departing on or after Oct. 1.

100% - B, E, H, M, U, Y
75% - Q, V, W
50% - L,S,T
25% - G, K
