"you’re now eligible to earn x,xxx bonus miles by spending $yy,yyy in purchases (not including returns) on your United MileagePlus® ZZZZ card between October 1 and December 31, 2017."

The bonus miles and spend target are personalized.
Some have received offers requiring a number of uses instead of a $$ spend.
Requires having an MP branded Chase credit card and if you have multiple credit cards appears only one is targeted

Mine isn't quite as good. ("earn 2,500 bonus miles by spending $3,000") Likewise, I'm redirecting some spending to it instead of Amex, as it's almost double miles.

Mine was "Spend $11,000 and earn 5,000 bonus miles."
I use my Presidential Plus card primarily for flights on UA, and for little else. I don't know how MP/Chase comes up with these algorithms, but short of booking the bulk of my 2019 flights before the end of the year, there is no way I would come anywhere close to spending $11K in the last quarter. And 5,000 RDM's is not an incentive to push any 2019 spend (travel or otherwise) into 2018.

$3,000 spend to get 5,000 miles. No thanks, I'll get at least that many UR points for the same spend between my freedom unlimited and CSR.
Really leaning toward cancelling this card for 2019 since I'll be Gold with United. I don't use it for actual purchases (except for the discount on in-flight purchases and in the terminal at Newark) and the UC passes are going to become substantially less valuable to me. Upgrades on award flights is nice in theory but I save my points to book premium cabin flights anyway, so it's mostly irrelevant.
