Mistake on Seatmap united.com? Lie flat sea-ewr on redeye?
 

Just looking for flights on united.com on Nov 1st from sea-ewr. The redeye shows an international configured 757 as a seat map. Is that real or is it a mistake? If real, do they ever change the plane?

Looks real, and not just on 11/1. The switch looks to start from 10/29 with UA1696 from EWR, and UA1695 from SEA.

They cut Saturday frequencies on this route fairly recently. I was booked on this redeye for early December only to find out (on my own, of course) that I had been rebooked via ORD and that I needed to call reservations for reticketing.

That's quite exciting. Presumably UA trying to compete with B6 Mint starting on SEA-JFK.

I sure hope this sticks. It would be great to see lieflats on all red-eye transcons, at the very least.

I have a number of these booked. Looks like they moved the 757 PS planes to this route when then moved all PS to 77W

It's currently just one round trip 77W between SFO and EWR. But you're right, they have the high density (10 across) 772 cycling in now in addition to the 752s.

They are also running an sCO 752 EWR<>SAN when I fly the route in November. Maybe trying to compete against AS(?)...seems kind of random, but I'll take it!

Yes, absolutely. Absent a specific declaration from United, aircraft assignments are not guaranteed.

However, the current contract of carriage defines a change of aircraft type to one that provides "different seat configurations" to be irregular operations. So, if you book the route expecting a lie-flat, and they swap to an aircraft without it, you should be able to get a re-route or a refund.

Just booked lie flat RT for Thanksgiving holiday. Let's hope these aircraft stick!

I would imagine they will. You don't see too many schedule changes happen once you get inside 2 months of the flight, IME. Of course, if there are IRROPs on the day of, it will almost certainly be the easiest flight for UA to sub in a 737 for.

I booked this route on a Christmas Day overnight flight w/ my fiancee and I am very excited about these lie flat seats! Would love to hear someone's experience with SEA-EWR on the 757-200

I was flying SEA-IAD yesterday, and saw the next gate had the 757 with lie flights going to Newark. It even looked like 3 upgrades cleared. I was checking a couple dates in February and it looked like they also had 757 lie flat service.

Looks like fares have gone up. They were under $1K for R/T in the front.
