Can no longer choose online to pay at airport?

There used to be a handy workaround to holding a ticket online. Rather than choosing a credit card, we could choose to pay at the airport (in cash). It would only work with UA -only tickets (no code-shares, etc.)

I can't seem to find that now.

Have others found this as well?

Seems still available, just tested
"Other forms of payment"
"Pay in person"
presents
"Select where you will complete your cash purchase (*Required)
Airport Ticket Office (service charge per transaction may apply)
United Ticket Office (service charge per transaction may apply)"

There may be some reason it isn;t available for your particular itin.
Are you close to the advance purchase deadline?
Have you redeemed an ETC or Travel Bank? (not sure if that has an impact)

All good questions ... Am looking for a flight Friday. No coupons. Perhaps it was a quirk of this particular itinerary. Glad it is still there!

Likely an advance purchase window issue -- farelock has a similiar issue

I think that's too close to departure date to use this feature, that's my experience at least.

This. You need to be a certain number of days out from the flight in order to use it. This doesn't appear to be related to actual fare rules from what I've seen, it's just not available in the last week or so before the flight date.

Strange, you'd think that's the timeframe where this feature may be most useful.

UA is phasing out (if not already totally completed) the acceptance of cash for payment at airports. I witnessed this first hand last week at IAH. Credit only.

I don't know of airports where United is still taking cash (for tickets or baggage).

DO NOT PAY CASH FOR A TICKET!!

Bad experience happened to me about 5 years. Friend of mine bought a car in Miami, FL because of a family emergency he could not go day of flight. Told him I would help him out and go. He gave me $1,000 cash for the flight that day. I didn't want to keep that much cash on me so paid for the one way ticket in CASH at airport (back when they took cash).

Went to security and must of threw up a red flag because I was never so intensely searched in my life. They took me to a room and was asking me why I paid cash for a one way ticket. (and i understand why). But for an entire year after that i was "randomly selected" every time for additional screening.

Folks - truth is, this has NOTHING to do with needing to pay cash at The airport. It has to do with being able to hold ticket without purchasing it.
