UA does not have antitrust immunity with AC on trans-border flights. It would be illegal for UA to decide not to start YOW-IAH or YOW-DEN because of anything AC said / wanted.
It sucks that YOW is so Star Alliance dependent. Would be nice if Westjet joined SkyTeam and finished the JV with Delta. I think if the MAX issues ever get solved YOW could get some more service to Europe Signed from a guy in YOW looking for more options |

United pulls out of certain routes because AC still flies them. EWR for example. YOW has over 5 million travelers so its not a super small station. Star Alliance funnels everything via YYZ. At one point lets say 5-6 years ago there was about 7 flights to ORD a day. Now there is none cause United knows AC will pick up the slack and just send people via YYZ.

What you describe is illegal. UA would need to be able to show an independent justification. They can drop the route because it's unprofitable, or because another route is more profitable and they need the planes or crews; they can't drop the route because it's helps AC.

In Canada airlines can pretty much do whatever they want. The head lawyer for the body that "polices" airlines , his partner is on the airlines payroll.

TPA>DUB
We already have LH to FRA, Edelweiss to ZRH and BA/Norwegian to Gatwick. Delta flies seasonal to AMS. Actually, anywhere in Europe would be great. |

Some talk, no formal plans to reconsider https://www.flightglobal.com/strateg...129676.article There is a TATL JV with AC, LH and UA. |

I think you are more likely to get EI to start this route instead of UA.

LAX-MIA
LAX-SJC BUR-IAH BUR-EWR (would pay a significant premium for this one) If they don't add one or two of these by next year I'm probably switching over to AA, since they provide non-stop to MIA and SJC plus my regular NYC and LHR routes. There's also BUR-DFW for a one-stop option pretty much anywhere out of Burbank. UA's BUR-SFO doesn't make sense to connect for most of the country, and BUR-DEN doesn't have many great connecting options for my schedule. |

What's the largest plane that they can get in and out of BUR? United flies nothing larger than the A319, AFAIK, and BUR-EWR on an A319 would be a pretty brutal trip. I wouldn't do it. But I might be inclined to fly BUR-IAH on an A319 if the schedule worked out well.

Please bring back MSY -> LAX, RIP 4 years.
