purchasing miles for flight
Hey everyone,
Haven't been on here in a while. I got my wings clipped and now fly a desk.
I am planning a vacation for the beginning of November and the wife wants to bring her parents. I have enough miles for me and the Mrs. to book RT award flights, and will have some leftover, but not enough to book additional. but was wondering if I can 'buy' additional miles (like websites, points swap sites - have hhonors points). I've been out of the game for so long that I don't know whats available now.
Thanks in advance.
OBG

Yes you can. Be on the lookout for sales and discounts from the various hotel and airlines.
UA is selling miles with an up to 100% bonus at the moment:

UA offers multiple ways to purchase miles
A summary of the methods is found on UA's web site
The "most convenient" approach is Purchase Personal Miles --- generally this is the most expensive also. But from time to time UA has sales -- as the previous posted mention

(do be careful as the bonus is variable)
The second most common approach is Award Accelerator. It bit more complicated and less flexible in operation but generally cheaper.

You can transfer points from Marriott Rewards.
Using swap sites have risks as UA does not endorse that method.
