Anyone up for a UA896 last SIN-HKG flight DO?
On 28OCT, UA896 is flying SIN-HKG for the last time after 30+ years of daily service. I'm booked on the flight (to HKG). Anyone interested in making it a small FT DO?

I've never flown business/first on a 747 (I've only done Y on an EVA 777), so I was trying to get on this flight in business, but it's sold out, at least ICN-SFO. The inbound SFO-ICN seems to have more availability, so I might be interested in doing that, but that wouldn't leave any time for a proper DO.

Well...that's embarassing. I was on the 747 thread yesterday about the retirement flights, and thought the number looked familiar and so did the date (end of October), which kind of would have made sense, that seems like a flight this thread would have been interested in. ICN-SFO is 892.

But since the 28th is a Saturday, no chance I'll be on that one. I'm much more likely to be on the last HKG-SIN 895 on Friday night.

I enjoyed SIN-HKG as it was a short flight with cheerful breakfast service. And back in the day it was 747. And I was always connecting to the 747 HKG-SFO.
the HKG-SIN leg I have no recollection as I was always asleep until taxiing at Changi upon arrival. I am sure that was a well run route too.
I didn't realize this was run for 30+ years. Thanks OP for the trivia. Wish everyone who is taking it a great DO.

I will miss it dearly. Connection to SFO through HKG was just perfect, with a nice break in the lounge, not making the journey THAT much longer... 16+ hours on a plane is a just bit too much

totally agreed. Unlike others I didn't mind the early start in SIN. However, the past 3-4 years SFO-SIN-SFO was priced cheaper via NRT so I experienced HKG lounge less often.

I'd love to join this but I'm just returning on the SFO-SIN on the morning of the 28th. If I wind up coming back a day earlier I'll definitely join the DO.
