It's our departing city, so we'll probably be there a few hours before liftoff. We have a 7 yr old, so not looking to go to a lounge in another terminal, then bus over to our terminal. Looking to keep it simple.

NZ departs from the international terminal at ORD (T5). No UCs there. There may be a partner lounge at T5 NZ utilizes.
SK or LX - not spectacular...

Just wondering... why do you intend to be there a few hours before departure, especially with a seven year old?

Was in the LX lounge a couple months ago. very small and crowded. I hnestly think there are more business class seats on the 773 than in the lounge. Small bathrooms. food spread, especially a selection of hot food, was better than the UC, but still only swedish meatballs and soup. You should try to minimize the amount of time spent in T5.

Either of the UA B lounges are perfectly serviceable. As is F, but that’s a hike. The C lounge is to be avoided at all cost.

It's a 16 hr international flight so I prefer to be a little early, then having something unexpected happen

Lounges??

Deplorable is the right word, regardless.

I was thinking SWISS and Swissport. Has SAS not reopened yet?

I don't believe SAS has re-opened. I believe SWISS also closed for good. So it's just the horrific Swissport lounge.

Is SAS one of the new lounges being built in the big ORD T5 expansion?

Perhaps.

But that new terminal may not open before the year 3,000.

The SAS lounge at T5 was serving hot dogs from a pot of hot water in a crockpot last time I was there. No thanks!!! And I normally eat most anything.

It is still closed in T5.

A few weeks ago I had a ride to ORD a few hours before my LX departure in Business class.

I entered ORD T1 with my SWISS boarding pass with no issues.

I was welcomed into the ORD Polaris lounge with no issues.

My only hassle was when the waitress forgot to take my hamburger order to the kitchen. 30 minutes after ordering she asked me if I was ready for dessert!!!!

The burger arrived 10 minutes later and was very good!

At T5 I still had extra time so I regretfully visited the Swissport lounge. A nasty place, but it does have its own restrooms. haha

T5 expansion nearing completion. I believe you are thinking/speaking of the ORD Global Terminal, which is years away.

I do hope with the current T5 expansion, theyve taken the opportunity to expand and update the lounges there.

The new DL/ST lounge opens in September when DL relocates to T5.

The LX lounge ORD T5 has been shut down for a good while longer than the SAS lounge ORD. The SAS lounge at ORD re-opened at the beginning of Q2 2022, and its reopening marked the beginning of the end of my use for the Swissport lounge when flying SAS out of T5. It’s still as lousy as ever with food, although not as bad as the very weak Swissport lounge has been with food during the period while both the SAS and LX lounges were out of operation.
