Boeing 767-300 Version 2 (30/184) - Polaris non-HD
30 Polaris 46 E+ 138 E-

AeroLOPA view: https://www.aerolopa.com/ua-boeing-76a

AVOID Polaris:
7A, 7L does not have a window.

Recommended E+ seats:
21DEF (middle seats) have extra legroom as an emergency crossover row. Note that 21AB and KL have limited recline.
22AB and KL have extra legroom but may be cold.
40AB, 41AB are crew-rest seats. If available (usually T-24), they have a footrest and extra recline.

This is a 1-1-1. 1-2-1 on the 77w.
That's just not true. A stagger like this is a 2-2-2, or 2-4-2 on the 777. That doesn't mean it is an inferior product or a bad thing. Indeed, I think this is a great compromise that gives a balance between access and density.

Yeah, that was never going to happen. Unlike the 777, where 10 abreast is common place, 8 abreast 767s have only happened with specialized, charter/LCC types operating pretty specific missions. The aircraft simply isn't built for that to be the case in a regular situation.

I really don't understand the 1-1-1 vs 2-2-2 debate. By the logic that if seats overlap they should count as the same row shouldn't the current 777 be called 4-8-4?

Yeah - by no measure is this 2-2-2.

So, is BA's product 1-2-1 then?

Why are we having this debate again? We had this for the 77W which some people called 2-4-2 and it really is 1-2-1.

What's not true? Can you point out a non-overlapping 1-2-1 J product then?

No. It's not direct aisle access, and by definition, in a 1-2-1 layout every passenger has direct aisle access.

You can call the 763 "2-2-2," but by the same token, you can say the sky is "red." You're using a commonly understood descriptive in a way that no one else understands it. It may make perfect sense to you, but it won't make sense to anyone else.

Do you consider the Apex Suite 2-2-2?

If not, why?

Yes. The middle seats of the APEX suites are a 2 pack, and the staggered window/aisles are also 2 packs.

If I'm flying the 763 IAH-ORD round trip the first week of October, any chance of getting the Polaris hard product?

Your chance is not zero, but I wouldn't be upgrading for the hard product if that is the only reason why you would upgrade. UA has 35 763s and if you are lucky there will be 2 763s flying on October so your chances are about 2-5%

^

And at this point we don't know the route plan for the reconfigured birds, so that could move those percentages up or down.

I'm a bit nostalgic to see the 3-class go. Pretty sure IPTE debuted on the 67I configuration in late 2006. I recall FT-era were pretty hot for the product then.

First time a UA 767 had lie flats in any cabin, as the old config only had the partial non-lie flat United First "Suite". Gosh, that seems like a long time ago now.

My first ever op-up was on a pre IPTE 767 from Y to F IAD-LHR. I still remember having boarded and taken in my seat in Y and having the gate agent come get me with a new boarding pass, telling me to grab my bag and follow her to 1A.
