772 or 763 TATL?

Have never flown United TATL C class before. Using my MR points for 4 seats in June 2018 it looks like I have a choice ex-UK of a 772 from Dub or a 763 from AMS back to EWR. Does either one have an edge or no real difference on this relatively short flight? Searching and googling has left me more confused than before... Thx in advance.

Both aircraft are likely to have the same sCO seat, the 772 2-2-2, the 763 2-1-2.

Suppose there's some chance the 763 has new Polaris seat, so perhaps that gets the edge.

I would only add that if OP is tall (over about 5'10") the sCO seat on the 763 is 3" shorter than on the 777. With the footwell being narrow, you can't lie flat in it if you are tall (for example at 6' 1.5" tall I can't fit). If I were short, I would go with the 763 hoping that the plane has the Polaris seat by then, but if I were not, I would NOT book the 763 in J.

We also don't know the size that the Polaris seat will be on the 763 either, it may end up being a tighter version of the current 777 seat (narrower and shorter).

I'd avoid the 763 because they break more often than the 772s.

No difference if you are flying upfront. If it were in the back, I would choose the 763.

777 has wider and longer seats with this product.

This. The 763 has the best long haul Y seats.

+1

I have flown the 763s a few times to/from LHR, AMS and MUC and have found the seats way too short and unsleepable. The 777s have many seats that are good for tall people, the bulkhead sCO seats being the best.

Typically I would say 763/764 wins, but with 4 of you, the ONLY reason to fly a 772 is you could get an entire 4 person row to yourself in business. You can communicate easily etc, where if you were in separate rows it is difficult to even see each other.

I loathe the 3 class pmUA 772 business class, but to me this would be an exception, making it superior to the other options.

I'm only 5'3" but hubby is pushing 6 ft and lets face it...he'd be the biggest complainer if his feet were jammed up. I'll book the DUB flight and get him in a bulk head seat. There is no row of 4 though - it's 2-2-2 to pick from. Hopper flights to DUB are also cheaper it seems, so this works all the way around. Thanks everyone!

You also pre-clear U.S. customs at DUB, which is nice if you're connecting at EWR.

The 2-2-2 is the best configuration for comfort. My wife and I always get the center pair, row 8 (which are all bulkhead seats and have a nice shelf in front of them as well), because then she can get out of her seat without having to climb over me.

In addition, row 8 is better because the usual post-meal FA "cackle party" occurs in the front galley, and I find it difficult to sleep with them carrying-on. The aft galley usually only has one FA sitting down and reading quietly or playing on their laptop.
