UA Pulled Out of NYC Pride Parade {Due to Delta's exclusive arrangement}
I get any parade is full of politics as they want money from sponsors and sponsors want something in return. It seems UA can't even compete in the NYC parade market.

It is indeed better than being stuck in yet another legal dispute and tarnishing your name. They are very inclusive when it comes to LGBTQ community. Their latest FB ads and Instagram ads even have the rainbow colored united logo. It sucks that Delta made this hard for others. It should be against the law.

I blame the organizers for not foreseeing this situation.

How long before someone posts something about UA hating customers, prioritizing their employees over customers, dragging people off planes, and now aren't LGBT friendly?
|
Didn't this happen with DL/AS last year or the year before??
|
Thinking about this for about two minutes, my take is that Delta is using this more as a marketing opportunity than as the opportunity to promote inclusiveness, and therefore earns a great big black mark with me.
|
So UA was only supporting the parade because of its marketing value and without being able to show its logo it is not interested? I thought part of Munoz's "actions speak louder than words" plan was providing better community relationships.

The only float I recall seeing in the last was JetBlue.

While there are certainly such things as anonymous donations, and probably sponsorships (though rare if they do exist much), if one is going to spend thousands (or likely, tens of thousands) of dollars for something like this, yes, they should get credit and be able to benefit from it. Yes, there is something good about supporting a cause, regardless of other benefits, but there is a reason event sponsorships come with a host of benefits. And let's not pretend individuals don't do the same thing....how many people would really donate as much as they do to causes if they didn't get a tax benefit. Some? Sure. Nearly as much as now. I highly doubt it. |
The organizers are to blame!!! Same crap happened here in Seattle last year so much so it caused the head of pride to resign & rightfully so. It was a big in your face snub to Alaska our hometown Airline and a huge sponsor of Pride for years!

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...-time-sea.html AS forum sub-thread starting here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...l#post26642385 However in that case the finger-pointing at DL may have been premature; after some outcry the parade organizers eventually released a statement taking the fall for misunderstanding the contractual obligations: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...l#post26647005 |
I notice that the united Google+ logo has been rainbow-ised. Perhaps related.

Big :td: to DL. They should be ashamed of themselves for acting like this.
