Horrible thread - Mods please close.

I figured this deserved it's own thread.

It seems the first 747 most likely has exited the UA fleet.

N120UA flew to VCV yesterday, June 6th. As far as I've read, UA does not perform maintenance in VCV, so this is most likely a fleet exit.

Surprising as this is one of the newer 747s (Delivered 1999).

N120UA has indeed made its swan song, but UA 747-400 retirements have been underway, on-and-off, for the better part of 9 years, including as recently as this winter.

Ok let me rephrase, the "77W driven final retirements begin"...

I flew N120UA upper deck last week in what was probably my last 747 flight. Sad to see them go.

N197, 179 and 182 had been retired post receipt of the 77W

Agree in principle, but they've been in a state of disrepair on my recent flights, including inoperable AVOD and wifi, problems with footrest recline, miserable lavs, light shining through gaps where the plastic is warped around windows, etc. Considering UA has taken the duct-tape approach inside these cabins, I'm also ready to see them go (gasp!).

they've retired 6 744's in the past year. the 77W order was placed more than two years ago. all of those retirements were "driven" by the 77W order.

there's no point to this thread.

Actually .....

driven by expensive upgrades required to keep 747 flying @:-)

Retirement of 747s was announced WELL BEFORE announcement of 77W.
