ua has taken very good care of me, often at great cost to them. however it's disheartening and obviously a penny pinching thing when the company didn't give their employees the tools (ability to increase compensation amounts in order to compel, rather than drag, customers outta their seats) to do their job.

as a member of the ua family i'd be disheartened. oscar was obviously trying to have his employees back with his communiques, but that didn't go well with the public. as a result employees suffer.

as a customer i don't care. i'm glad the pax stood up to the system and didn't go down without a fight. he took one for the customers, and customers of ua will only benefit from this.

So, how about an unscientific poll, please post two numbers:

A) On a 1 to 10 scale, 1 being the worst possible, and 10 being the best possible, what is your opinion of United today?
B) On the same scale, what was your opinion of United 3 months ago, before these two "scandals?"

It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Just post two numbers ... I will tabulate them and edit this post.

In a month of two, people and redditors will be find something else to be outraged at and no one will remember or care about these incidents. Always has been this way, and always be will this way.

Before - was captive flyer. i knew they sucked but i knew the competitors also sucked and , hey , i got free upgrades.
After - luckily i live elsewhere as homebase. fly UA on a few segments during home visits but now i truly have no reason.

a younger version of me would also have placed the blame on the staff and law enforcement. an older work-weary version of me casts the fault squarely at the top. the corporate statements had me chuckling all day.

fwiw i was fully on UA's side for leggingsgate

Unitied, excuse me, United doesn't care what we think. They will continue to be an airline looking for an excuse when something goes wrong, be it Mainline or Regional. They believe it is easier to give a lame apology, than to do the correct thing to begin with. This starts at the top, and flows down hill. Their credo: "OOPS! Oh well, tomorrow is another day. People will not remember this for long."

The biggest reason why I won't patronize them.

not sure about that.

a frail senior citizen sitting quietly in his assigned seat getting yanked bloody to cater a carrier's irrops is going to reverberate a bit longer than....... smashing someones guitar, kicking non paying revs for improper dress, or pulling off a drunk pax.

call me crazy
