IME it is purely distance based, i get offers of 60K and 75K for trips to singapore and obviously much much much less for local trips.
Just start picking trips further and further away until you get what you need. I am not sure if booking in Y vs F makes a difference but status does as my wife and I were on the same PNR and obviously identical tickets, but had different offers for accelerator

Just tried the IAH-SJO route and got a 10K offer... took it at USD$900...
Stupid question... but travel in 2018 is fine... the accelerator miles should count for 2017... right????

So... It's 11:39 EST and have attempted three other itineraries and NOT being offered accelerator options... others? tried long haul and transcon... nada...

Assuming you paid in 2017, they should count for 2017 - afaik, they show up immediately - or relatively quickly

As it is intended by UA is fleecing customers as they don’t know the nuances about the purchase dynamics. If you aren’t savvy you are exploited, so message is just keep working the angles and eventually it will pay off.

18,000 miles for $360 worth it?
