Don't wait. The closer you are to Gold the more UA will charge you for the miles. Buy them before your trip if you want to save money.

I did some trial runs to see how much it would cost me to buy the upgrade now and found it pretty consistently around 10 cpm:

http://www.wpcoe.com/images/mp-accelerator.gif

(The first itin is what I'm actually booked on now and the minimum mileage offered was 17.5k. The second itin is based on what's available now for making a booking, but offered 10k miles.)

Also, can the Premier Accelerator be used several times in a year? e.g. The LAX-SAN ticket offers both the 2,000 mi for $210 and 1,000 mi for $105. If I could do (4 @ $210) + (1 @ $105), I could get my needed 9,000 mi for $945.

(For those who may not have been following my queries, I currently have 0 PQM/PQS/PQD, but will have 41,842 PQMs after I finish the trip. There is more to my itin than just the BKK-SAN / IAH-BKK, but on separate PNRs.)

Great Q, is this RDM/PQM purchase repeatable throughout the year? Can you you buy/cancel within 24h several times a year, each time paying only for the RDM/PQM?

Also, is there any way to find the lowest cpm prospectively or do we have to slog through dummy bookings on .bomb until we find the lowest?

And when doing these dummy bookings, does fare class and/or cabin make a difference in cpm offered? One way vs RT?
(Just on 1984's "tip" a SAN-BKK dummy booking got me from 15 cpm to 12 cpm; thanks!)

No simple way, see wiki of Consolidated Award / Premier Accelerator questions for suggestions

Yes, as noted in the above thread

4d ago I my accelerator rate was down to 12.5 cpm, now it is 27.5. That was fast. Suspect this late in the year it will not be dropping again.

bruinflyer Nov 2, 2017 11:54 pm

I was just offered 12.5cpm (6k for $750 or 9k for $1125) during check in on a P class fare (RT, domestic).

This was this morning for me, on a flight that was prebooked (award ticket even)

PTahCha Nov 3, 2017 7:58 am

I have been getting 12-12.5cpm consistently.

Flight with family (Plat, Silver, Silver) - 2+10 cpm (for a preposterous 20k miles)
Wife's flight solo - 2+9 cpm (for a more reasonable 9k miles).

Though in both instances the miles would put us well past next tier. I believe when I purchased the amount of miles available was lower, but similar price.

TandroyFoty Nov 7, 2017 2:32 pm

Well then, I had some award bookings that were giving me around 9-10 cpm for premier accelerator in October, and when I checked now, all three are around 27.5 cpm. I wonder why weezl and I have that issue while others are still seeing 9-10cpm.

Girlfriend (Silver) and I (Gold) are traveling together tomorrow.

$460 for 4,000 PQM and Award Miles for her.
$1,110 for 4,000 PQM and Award miles for me.

:(

Youe present status is probably not relevant, but rather what would the additional 4K PQM do for you this year?

I'm currently at 66,410 PQM, and I've got 85,547 PQD (total) booked before the end of the year. I've got two trips on farelock that would push me over 1K on 12/24/17.

Will cross Plat thresholds on 11/28/17.

PQMs just before 1K can be very expensive.

Last month when I was a non-status MP member, purchasing Award + Premier Accelerator miles was approx 10 cpm. Today six weeks later with MP Gold status, they are 12cpm.
