The saving grace used to be that United had actual "First Class" on all of their international flights (pre merger). That was almost a guarantee of premium cabin SAVER award availability. Wasn't too bad after the merger, especially to places that PMUA planes flew to (with "Global First" cabins).

Gone with the demise of Global F is a large, large, large portion of saver premium cabin award travel.

Very much agree - except for SFO-AMS-SFO!

Finding a business class transatlantic ticket for 60,000 miles is going to be impossible. (Like finding a cash ticket for $1000) You're going to have to lower your sights, I'm afraid.

Roundtrip, no. One-way, very much so, assuming space availability. Also, you can get across the Atlantic and back each way for under 60K redeeming partner miles on United, for example.

In Business class? Never seen it under 70K. In fact, have SFO-YUL-FCO booked at 70k for next May right now.

I booked last month one-way back from Europe on UA via Aeroplan for 55K.

On UA:

That's not enough notice to find award seats on about the busiest travel day of the year. Buying economy and waitlisting for an upgrade will set you back $2.2K + 40K miles. Or you can just buy a business ticket for about $3k. Or if you're flexible on dates there is a 2 stop long layover itinerary which will get you there and back in business for 140K miles on partner airlines but you will likely have to waitlist upgrades on the domestic segments.

USA thanksgiving holiday? Unfortunately, finding saver premium class near those dates will be like finding a unicorn and a mermaid in the desert. Although there may be an outside chance to find some saver space actually on the 28th.

But also as mentioned above, it will be nowhere near 60,000 r/t... Its more like 70K one way.

Search for an itinerary you want while logged in, select the flights, then log out. You'll probably be inundated by offers from United to buy the miles you need.

I disagree.. November and December in general are low season for business travel to Europe, and Thanksgiving week is especially sparse. I don't know what OP is trying but I see lots of options on 27-Nov: ZRH-SFO, ZRH-LAX, FRA-DEN, MUC-YYZ-LAS, etc.

Some ORD-WAW and EWR-VIE on 04-Dec, LAX-WAW and SFO-LIS on the 06-Dec.
