As someone who was flying Delta during their big meltdown last year, ya'll have my sympathy. System-wide shutdowns are a nightmare to recover from.

I ended up being 6 hours delayed on the outbound segment, then two flights (twelve hours apart!) canceled on the return, stranding me overnight.

The good news is that when all was said and done I ended up with $600 in flight vouchers and 20,000 miles compensation. And this wasn't even as a someone with more than bottom tier status. (I am an airline maverick and swear allegiance to no one line at this point.)

Weird. I left hnl at 0830, arrived lax an entire hour early, then spent 3 hours in the *A lounge before walking to terminal 8 where flights are boarding left and right - I was completely unaware of any meltdown until now. My sea flight looks ok - 10 min delay.

2 steps forward, 1 step back. Thought Oscar had the ops on a positive trend, but clearly the antiquated IT is going to be a recurring issue and perhaps Jeffy's ultimate legacy (besides the Chairman's flight). Interesting how large 24/7 companies (including mine) are able to upgrade IT but UA is apparently incapable.

As others have said, glad I'm not flying today. To be fair LH, AF have frequent strikes, which have the same effect (though I suppose you can make contingency plans)

whew flew in to iah at noon and missed this. saw a few planes delayed due to ATC but that was because of the wind (knocked power in houston for a few places including microcenter).

I'd much prefer a three hour computer outage over a crew strike a la LH.

On DEN-EWR this evening, departure time was originally 5:55. As of 8:35 we have just pushed back from the gate. What, if any, compensation is available?

Travel Advisory: UA is allowing rebooking of Jan 22 and Jan 23 flights systemwide at no fee. Must fly by Jan 25. Same origin and destination, same cabin.

All things considered. 2.5 hours later to get to bdl not as bad as it could have been I guess?
