cups runneth over

When it rains, it pours: ATCSCC ADVZY 011 DCC 01/23/2017 OPERATIONS PLAN

EVENT TIME: 23/0100 - AND LATER
TERMINAL CONSTRAINTS:
BOS/NYMETS/PHL/DCMETS/CLT
DTW/MDW/ORD/MSP/IAH-LOCIG
ATL/CLT-LOCIG/TSTMS
SFO/LAX/LAS/SAN-LOW CIGS

ENROUTE CONSTRAINTS:
ZNY-M201 CLSD, TSTMS, UPDATE 0000
ZJX/ZTL/ZHU-TSTMS
ZID/ZOB/ZDC/ZJX/ZTL-TURBULENCE

****PERTI OPERATIONAL GOALS FOR JANUARY 22, 2017****

1. MANAGE N90/PHL/SFO/LAX AIRBORNE HOLDING AND DEPARTURE DELAYS TO LESS
THAN 60 MINUTES, OUTSIDE OF GS/GDP INITIATIVES DUE TO REGIONAL AIRPORT AND
EN ROUTE WX CONSTRAINTS.

2.MANAGE ATL/CLT THUNDERSTORM IMPACTS TO KEEP AIRBORNE HOLDING AND
DEPARTURE DELAYS BELOW 60 MINUTES OUTSIDE OF GS/GDP INITIATIVES.

A NATIONWIDE UAL MAINLINE ONLY GROUND STOP HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED DUE TO A
COMPANY WIDE AUTOMATION ISSUE. THIS STOP CANNOT BE ENTERED INTO THE TFMS
SYSTEM, THEREFORE, SYSTEM WIDE UAL SPECIFIC ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE DATA WILL
BE UNRELIABLE UNTIL THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN RESTORED. COMPACTED DEMAND AND
COMPLEXITIES CREATED BY THUNDERSTORMS AT THE ATL AIRPORT HAVE CREATED THE
NEED FOR A GROUND STOP. THE AIRPORT WILL TRANSITION BACK INTO A REVISED
GROUND DELAY PROGRAM UNTIL WEATHER HAS SUBSIDED AND VOLUME HAS STABILIZED.
EXCESS DEMAND INTO THE LAX AIRPORT CONTINUES TO BUILD, BUT A WIND SHIFT IS
EXPECTED WITHIN THE HOUR ALLOWING FOR AN IMPROVED ACCEPTANCE RATE.
REGARDLESS OF THE IMPROVED CAPACITY FOR LAX, A CHANGE IN RUNWAY
CONFIGURATION WILL CAUSE MODERATE AIRBORNE HOLDING, CREATING THE NEED FOR A
POSSIBLE COMBINATION OF GROUND STOPS AND A REVISION OF THE CURRENT GDP. ZAB
REQUESTS ALL FACILITIES LEAVE LAX ARRIVALS ON THEIR ASSIGNED ROUTINGS.
AFP/FCAJX3 WAS CANCELED. ZHU ADVISES THE FREQUENCY ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN
RECTIFIED, HOWEVER, NO AIRCRAFT SHOULD EXPERIENCE UNDUE DELAYS.

1. N90
UNTIL 0259 -EWR GROUND DELAY PROGRAM
UNTIL 0259 -PHL GROUND DELAY PROGRAM
UNTIL 0459 -LGA GROUND DELAY PROGRAM

2. ZTL
UNTIL 0259 -ATL GROUND DELAY PROGRAM

3. ZJX
UNTIL 0200 -TPA/MCO GROUND STOPS POSSIBLE

4. ZOA
UNTIL 0459 -SFO GROUND DELAY PROGRAM

5. ZLA
UNTIL 0159 -LAX GROUND DELAY P OGRAM
UNTIL 0759 -LAS GROUND DELAY PROGRAM

6. AFPs
UNTIL 0059 -FCAJX3
UNTIL 0159 -FCAJX1

7. ROUTES
UNTIL 0000 -UPSTATE NY AND CANADA VIA Q103 J61
UNTIL 0400 -FCAJFK: JFK WIND ROUTES
UNTIL 0430 -FCAEWR: EWR WIND ROUTES

****PERTI Preliminary Goals for January 23, 2017

1. Manage BOS/NY Metro/PHL arrival and departure delays to less than 60
minutes, outside of GS/GDP initiatives due to IFR/MVFR, E-NE Winds

2. Manage SFO/LAX arrival and departure delays to less than 60 minutes,
outside of GS/GDP initiatives due to MVFR conditions with thunderstorms
Given all of the weather groundstops, turbulence happening around the country, UAL's ground stop is compounding all issues.

Also, ATCSCC has now posted for MCO Diversion Recovery activation because of their problems.

Oboyoboyoboy.

I wonder if there are going to be any flights that end up violating the "tarmac rule" and keep folks trapped on planes for more than 3 hours. Sounds like DEN is moving jets around to get planes to gates. Could be extremely costly for UA if multiple tarmac rule violations.

ORD-GRR mainline , was one plane away from runway when we got held. Now hit the 2hr mark and still waiting on one piece of paper according pilot, so now they are sending us back to the gate in fear of the 3hr rule. They have been giving us snacks and water, even get to watch the game for free, but I think it's time to rent a car....

Must not be expecting a quick fix. My DEN-SFO flight doesn't leave for about 45 min and they just issued a 20 min delay.

And it looks like Delta has a complete GS ("DAL AND DAL SUBS") for ATL due to "GATE ISSUES" -- seems like everyone is getting in on the fun tonight.

And lest ye think that driving is exempt -- fiancée and her brother driving back from visiting in relatives in CHI got held up for an hour at a rest stop due to a bomb threat and just got back on the road. Seems traveling in general today has issues...

While I am no ACARS expert, I believe satellite ACARS vs low frequency ACARS are different.
