So I called United and the phone agent confirmed me into first, seat 1K.

I'm a happy camper!
Nice. This is a great example of why you pay the cheap upfare ($139) from Y-J. 200% qualifying miles, additional award miles, and CPU chance for J-F is very good since most people in J are R/RN/PN and don't qualify for upgrade from J-F.

Uhm, you're combining two posts from two different OPs.

Whoops... I skimmed a few posts that I should have read more carefully.

Will still say that on the ORD-IAH.. $139 to upfare is a good deal and better than using miles.

Congratulations! 1K is an awesome seat. Did the agent go away to talk to a supervisor, "rates", or something? Guess they looked at it and made the obvious decision. Good to know that's possible from a phone agent.

I thought it was an amazing agent, until I looked closely and saw ON1

I can only assume that yes, she did, because I was on hold for about 8-10 minutes after she said "let me see what I can do." Then came back and said that "we were able to process your request." I will note I could tell that she was a veteran agent by 1. how easy it was and 2. she didn't ask me if I needed a rental car.

Interestingly enough, F is now booked full with 5 seats still uncalled for and F is no longer for sale.

Once the cabins show full it's harder to get exact info, but I'd guess that J is still over by 5. United will not sell more (J + F) tickets than (J + F) seats in order to avoid the possibility of needing to IDB (or downgrade to Y) a pax with a premium ticket.

Good spot! Totally missed that.

Thinking back over recent agent interactions, 2 is a shockingly good heuristic for "good agent".

Yea, that's exactly what I did. Paid the for the up fare and was done with it. Sorry for the look of ignorance.

I am Plat and have applied RPU a same day return from LAS to MIA via SFO and return via IAH.
On the LAS-SFO there is R3 and RN3 available. Shouldnt I clear for that leg immediatly?

MIA-IAH has R2 and RN2 available. Shouldnt that clear also? its still says upgrade requested.

Hi-
so I used the book the economy saver award with the business saver price (57.500) for a flight from europe to SF Monday. I'm premier silver but it shows X waiting for I class.

Here are the stats...what are my chances 5 days out?
